The Business Analyst primary role is to analyse, understand and document business users requirements in a manner that can be translated into functional and technical requirements for the system implementation teams.
This role is instrumental in creating a clear, complete, and correct set of validated requirements that can be understood by both business and IT. It is expected that the BA will work with both business and technical teams to document the business requirements and follow-through to testing and implementation to ensure the delivered requirements met the user expectations.
1. Lead in business intelligence user requirements gathering and analysis working with LOB users, IT application teams, data governance and enterprise information management teams
2. Develop analytical and reporting solutions catering to different levels of users maturity and seniority, including but not limited to the design of scorecards, management reports, multi-dimensional analytical needs.
3. Drive functional design activities in relation to the Datamart & BI solution.
4. Participate in development of processes, business rules, user policies and procedures in relation to data warehouse analytical solutions
Business & Data Analyst
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Maintain good relationship with business users, IT teams, external vendors, stakeholders and meet their expectations
Develop business requirements with relevant business stakeholders. Translate business requirements to functional and non-functional requirements and communicate them to the rest of the application development team.
Assist data modeller in mapping tasks;
Oversee testing of application releases;
Act as consultant to the ETL and front end programmers.
Once business needs are defined for the data warehouse projects, the business analyst will be involved in designing and validating the logical data model that provides a different representation of these requirements.
Play a role in data model design and is involved in developing/validating source target mappings and transformation logic required to support information requirements.
The business analyst may also assist in identifying data quality problems and in determining options for how they will be handled.
Assist data modelers to prepare models, and review models to ascertain that requirements are met.
Working with data stewards on source systems and data gaps ie. additional information that needs to be brought into the source systems and/or EDW for successful MIS implementation.
Assist in developing test cases and participate in performance testing and User Acceptance testing. Ensure end solution adheres to user requirements
Developing user manual documentation (if applicable).
Providing training (train the trainer) and implementation support.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from a reputable institution of higher learning, preferably in Information Systems or any related fields
At least 4 year(s) experience in business analysis with at least 1 year in Financial Institution/Banking environment.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities
Experience as Business Analyst in implementing financial solutions is an added advantage
Ability to communicate with functional, technical and business people
Strong analytical skills and business knowledge related to financial services industry
Excellent in English language (Oral & Written)
Knowledge of BI analytical tools is an advantage

Strong understanding of consumer and/or wholesale banking products (features, functions, processes, etc.)
Strong understanding of financial analysis in relation to business units performances
Knowledge of Teradata FSLDM framework and various subject areas to understand the data model as pre-requisite for data mapping
Process mapping - diagramming of work processes to bring about improved outcomes
Good relationship management skills - The ability to manage relationships with the stakeholders, and provides feedback to the project team, and relevant managers.
Good communication skills - The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. And the ability to engage business users, articulate and interpret business requirement and translate into MIS functional requirements
Good problem solving skills - Strong interpersonal and analytical skills including problem analysis, Interviewing, probing and information gathering skills, listening skills.
Strong office administration skills - Incumbent is able to deal with a busy office environment and ensure that departmental administration is effectively controlled.

Computer literacy -Incumbent is familiar with Microsoft applications (Excel and Visio)
