Position Summary

Reporting to the Country Manager of Malaysia, the Business Development Manager is responsible to assess new sources of future growth for Edrington brands in Malaysia including evaluating distribution options for existing states and assessing geographical and distribution expansion opportunities in West & East Malaysia. The role is a key member of the Malaysia business unit and is pivotal in expanding Edrington\xe2\x80\x99s footprint, driving revenue growth and value creation.



  • Review distribution options and new sources of growth (new accounts/new channel/new segment) and make a recommendation to management.
  • Assess the potential and opportunities in the different states of Malaysia and develop clear acquisition plan by states and by channels.
  • Responsible to manage the end-to-end process for setting up new business relationship/growth and steering within timeline.
  • Partner with distributors/wholesalers to identify, evaluate, and prioritise new local market distribution opportunities to expand market reach, acquire new consumers and increase product availability and visibility.
  • Responsible for the management, delivery and achievement of commercial objectives to achieve business goals for Malaysia.
  • Develop an astute annual commercial plan to uncover the potential of acquired accounts.
  • Maintain business relationships with distributors by driving brand focus.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and manage internal and external stakeholders.



Skills and Experience
  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent.
  • At least 6 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in sales/key account management/business development.
  • Proven track record of success in sales or business development within the premium spirits industry, with a focus on trade channels.
  • Commercially astute and has extensive knowledge of the spirits market across Malaysia, including key players and trends.
  • Strong understanding of the cultural nuances of Malaysia.
  • Strong network of existing contacts within distributors and wines & spirits community.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, being hands-on approach with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel as required - out stationed to other states of Malaysia.
