Join us as Category Sourcing Manager, Asia for the Process Automation Business Area where you will be leading strategic sourcing and procurement activities of large sized projects with the target of optimizing cost/budget, schedule and supply reliability. Working collaboratively with Sales/Tendering and Technical team in driving value added improvements to support business growth. Reporting to Head of Procurement Hub Asia. This position and this position will be based in Subang Jaya or Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Your responsibilities

• Implementing effective sourcing strategies to ensure that suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements.
• Ensuring early involvement in the project tendering stage by contributing positively towards the success of the project award. Ensuring all relevant parties understand strategies and execute processes accordingly
• Managing and developing relationships with suppliers through objective assessment and evaluation of suppliers\' performance. Collaborating with the technical team for development of new vendors and materials.
• Expanding of sourcing base for supply risks mitigation and better negotiations opportunities. Defining and establishing standard agreements in purchase contracts /terms and conditions in line with company directives and guidelines
• Managing planning and tracking of cost budgets, spend and savings forecasts. Ensuring buyers will minimize risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with company guidelines
• Analyzing procurement activities covering total costs and delivery times. Identifying opportunities to improve cost modeling and reliability of supply base through external benchmarking and global supplier engagements Collaborating with category teams, R&D and technical community for optimized total cost of ownership
• Monitoring and reporting internal and supplier performance (KPIs), quality issues and development actions. Supporting conformance to ABB Procurement and Logistics metrics

Your background

• Degree in an engineering discipline with strong technical and analytical understanding
• Minimum 10 years of experience in project sourcing, procurement and supply chain activities.
• Experience in EPC projects, E-House fabrication covering electrical, structural, mechanical and construction scope in Asian Countries
• Good knowledge of commodity / business relevant supply markets
• Strong knowledge of business, policies and organization including Procurement systems and tools
• Good cultural understanding with excellent communication skills, structured, results oriented, self-driven, proactive, takes ownership
• Strong negotiation skills with contractual/legal understanding
