  • To deliver off-site corporate training (intensive workshops, extensive programmes, and bite-size sessions) on soft skills and business English to participants of mixed ability (language and skill), age, background and organisation (private entities, government ministries, and academic institutions).
  • To develop course outlines and syllabi that balance client and participant needs.
  • To create, customise and adapt materials (often organically) that support the growth of course participants.
  • To manage existing client relationships and actively build new ones.
  • To contribute to the wider Teaching Centre (TC) and Professional Development Centre (CES) strategic objectives.
Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:Accountabilities:Support British Council\'s global English strategy by
  • Delivering corporate and soft skills training to the highest standards.
  • Building positive working relationships with clients and participants.
  • Enhancing British Council\'s reputation as a world authority in professional and ELT training.
  • Continuing professional development and sharing of best practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring training meets participant and client needs and expectations.
  • Ensuring teaching meets Teaching Quality standards and organisational expectations.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, participants and colleagues.
  • Supporting the PDU\'s objectives to secure repeat business from existing clients.
  • Supporting the teaching centre\'s activities and British Council plans.
Main duties:
  • Training - plan, prepare, and deliver high quality training that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account client\'s requirements and individual learning styles.
  • Materials development - customising and adapting materials to meet client and participants needs.
  • Monitor participant\'s progress and provide regular feedback to help manage their performance throughout the course and actively promote learner autonomy.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of our courses, materials and related services, in order to meet learners\' needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team.
  • Client Management - manage relationships with clients and ensure excellent customer service to help secure repeat business. Follow up with clients post-course, attend client meetings and make recommendations for further training.
  • Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain British Council\'s position at the forefront of best ELT practices. Attend and contribute to training days and INSETT sessions.

Role specific knowledge and experience:Essential
  • Delivering training to a range of corporate and /or public sector clients
  • Business communications skills training
  • Business English training
Desirable
  • Soft skills training
  • Prior experience of working in business
  • IELTS exam preparation courses
  • Delivering online training
EducationEssential
  • 2 years post-certificate i.e. Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL experience
  • University degree

  • Cambridge DELTA/Trinity Diploma
  • Relevant Master\'s Degree
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in English i.e., FULL mastery of English across all 4 skills - equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module, with certification.
International Transfer
  • This role is open to all applicants including those who need to relocate to undertake the role. Candidates who do not have a natural right to work in the country will be provided with immigration clearance and visa support. Please note visa approvals are beyond the British Council\'s control so any job offer will be subject to securing the required right to work. No relocation support provided for this role.
