Chief Engineer

Job Description


Our client is an established consumer goods manufacturer located in Selangor. Currently, they are looking for a Chief Engineer to ensure adherence to HSSE, Food Safety, Quality, and legal standards, optimize departmental operations, drive continuous improvement through KPIs/KAIs, manage Opex/Capex/COGS, and lead the development and succession planning of teams while aligning strategies with company goals and global standards.Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and ensure high-quality work from indirect employees.
  • Implement HR policies and manage union agreements on-site.
  • Develop teams and align skills with business needs.
  • Ensure performance management processes, including appraisals, are followed.
  • Engage with teams on the shop floor for feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with HSSE, food safety, hygiene, and ISO standards.
  • Oversee effective PMS, meetings, and reporting systems.
  • Promote adherence to Maintenance/OT/CAPEX/Facility standards and training.
  • Resolve performance gaps using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Contribute to site strategy and lead Long-Term Development Plans (LTDP).
  • Identify and prepare capital projects to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Prioritize key focus areas (Maintenance/OT/CAPEX/Facility).
  • Manage OPEX and support CAPEX budget planning.
  • Review work practices to improve cost and performance.
  • Analyze utility consumption and set improvement plans.
  • Set and manage departmental KPIs in line with Group goals.
  • Lead or support improvement projects and share best practices.
  • Allocate resources to key initiatives and ensure maintenance compliance.
  • Use machine reliability measures (MTBF/MTTR) for maintenance planning.
  • Ensure teams meet utilities consumption improvement targets.
  • Manage Maintenance/OT/CAPEX/Facility KPIs effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Group standards and drive operational excellence.
Job Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering or Technical subjects.
  • More than ten (10) years of experience in a production environment, with at least five (5) years in middle/senior management.
  • Proven experience in developing people, managing budgets, and delivering results.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
  • Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English (spoken and written).
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage both direct and indirect teams.
  • Experience in implementing Group and Country HR policies and managing union/workers' agreements.
  • Knowledge of HSSE, food safety, environmental compliance, and ISO standards.
  • Strong process management skills, including maintenance, CAPEX, and performance management.
  • Experience in budget management, performance tracking, and operational improvements.
  • Familiarity with maintenance/OT/CAPEX/Facility KPIs and reliability measures (e.g., MTBF, OEE, etc.).
  • Ability to drive and implement capital projects to improve operational efficiency.
