to join our steel fabrication team. The CNC Operator will be responsible for operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to cut, drill, and shape steel parts and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC machinery in a metal fabrication environment, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g., laser cutters, plasma cutters, press brakes, milling machines, lathes) for steel part fabrication.
Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
Load steel materials and secure them properly for machining operations.
Monitor machine operations to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional standards.
Adjust machine settings as necessary to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
Report machine malfunctions, defects, or discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in CNC machining is a plus.
Minimum 1-3 years of CNC machine operation experience, preferably in steel or metal fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Familiarity with CNC programming (G-code) is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Physically able to lift heavy steel components and stand for extended periods.
Willingness to work overtime when required.
