Job Summary

Contract Managers take responsibility for managing large clients and/ or a portfolio of clients in a manner that maximises value for Accenture and clients. Contract Managers operate in close collaboration with sales and delivery teams and be recognized as a trusted advisor throughout the entire contract lifecycle including pre-award, contract delivery and closeout.

Contract Managers must be capable of managing complex, risky, high value contracts and subcontracts in accordance with company policies and procedures, applicable laws and client business requirements. Contract Managers are generally co-located with Accenture business/client units and project teams and are expected to maintain a high level of visibility on the account as they perform their contract management responsibilities.

Contract Managers also organise, control and direct the work activities of a team of contract management professionals and other related engagement staff allocated to a business or client unit, taking accountability for commercial and contractual outcomes and acting as a role model for contract management staff and a trusted partner to the business.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership/Engagement:

Lead contract management team on a specific project or account;

Work with project and account managers to ensure contract management support meets the day to day requirements of the business (or with business leadership if CM Lead on smaller project/account);

Demonstrate the value of the contract management function with business and account leaders (actively promote benefits/awareness if CM Lead on smaller project/account); and

Work with account teams and client contract management teams in order to understand critical business and delivery requirements (and leadership if CM Lead on smaller project/account).

People & Portfolio Management / Development:

Supervise, mentor and coach contract management staff allocated to a specific project or account to ensure most effective utilisation of resources;

Review performance standards for contract management staff, evaluate work performance and take timely action to recognise high performance and correct underperformance;

Provide input for the annual priority setting and performance achievement process for staff on an account or project;

Oversee implementation of a training modules for contract management staff on a specific project or account (and development if CM Lead on smaller project/account); and

Assist with recruitment activities, attend interviews for junior staff and oversee onboarding of new staff.

Risk & Issue Management:

Identify and resolve commercial and contract risks and issues (taking overall accountability if CM Lead on smaller project/account), working with account leadership to ensure appropriate mitigations strategies are developed;

Escalate contractual, commercial and CM positioning matters in a timely and controlled fashion (in accordance with prescribed consultation guidelines) and ensure affected parties are notified in an appropriate manner; and

Draft, review and approve weekly, monthly and quarterly reports in compliance with contract management processes and account delivery requirements.

Sales Support:

Provide support for pre-award sales activities, assisting with proposal reviews and working with deal teams to review contract terms and conditions and coordinating document execution; and

Demonstrate reasonable knowledge and understanding of Accenture's consulting, outsourcing and systems integration service offerings and associated commercial considerations (e.g. different Accenture workforces, cost and pricing structures, SLA's & delivery timescales) and build awareness and education within your CM teams.

Contracting, Drafting and Negotiation:

Draft Statements of Work, Change Requests, Arrangement Letters, Subcontracts and Non Disclosure Agreements, working with project leadership to provide timely reviews and quality contractual documents that are fit for purpose and ensure business/Legal approvals. (provide direction and oversight if CM lead on smaller project/account); and

Participate in negotiations (or lead negotiations for CM Leads on smaller accounts/ project) applying TAWN (The Accenture Way to Negotiate) to achieve the best outcomes for Accenture and clients.

Commercial and Contract Management Processes:

Implement contract management processes in a manner that is consistent with the CM Services Matrix on a specific project or account (ensure implementation if CM lead on smaller project/account);

Implement a contract awareness programme for account teams in order to ensure a high level of understanding of critical contract terms and conditions and Accenture and client obligations (or oversee rollout if CM Lead for smaller project/account);

Ensure all relevant policies and procedures applicable to an account are identified and communicated to relevant personnel, including new joiners;

Ensure appropriate contract records are maintained, including uploading contracts in accordance with Accenture records retention policies. (conduct audits if CM Lead on smaller account/project); and

Work with account teams to implement measures aimed at improving contract financial performance, including working with delivery and finance leads to identify and flex appropriate contract levers affecting revenue cost and profit.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Experience

Contract Management Knowledge and Experience:

Min 7 yrs relevant experience as a contract manager with exposure to complex, risky deals (
$50m portfolio value) with proven team management experience;

Relevant experience with either consulting, Outsourcing and Systems Integration deals in the Information Technology sector;

Demonstrated experience leading Contract Management teams with good executive presence;

Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with client contract management executives and be capable of contributing (and influencing if CM Lead on smaller project/account) to key commercial and contracting decisions; and

Solid commercial experience with exposure to managing complex commercial issues and an understanding of commercial best practices.

Knowledge of Business Practices:

Understanding of business practices at large corporations and/ or government entities;

Understanding of commercial contracting regulations and principles, subcontracting practices and accounting and finance principles; and

Exposure to commercial contracting regulations and principles.

Legal Knowledge and Experience:

Advanced knowledge and understanding of legal processes and principles as they relate to commercial and contract management;

Advanced knowledge and understanding of commercial and contract law; and

Advanced knowledge of the commercial terms and conditions applicable to contracts for Accenture services.

Key Relationships

Reports to:

Senior Contract Manager for Operating Group or Portfolio Lead; Country/ Regional Contract Management Lead;

Supervises:

Onshore and offshore Contract Management professionals (all levels) providing services on an account or portfolio of accounts

External Relationships:

Client commercial/ procurement/ contract management executives

Internal Relationships:

Commercial Director; Account Managing Directors and Client Account Lead

Education and Qualifications

Education:

University degree required (business, computing, law or engineering preferred).

Membership:

Member of International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM) or National Contract Management Association (NCMA) and/ or professional certification considered a plus.

Work Experience:

Min 7 years in contract management or related discipline.

Work Requirements:

Extensive travel may be required.
