SCOPE OF SERVICES:

  • To provide technical expertise, advisory and assistance in managing the social components of international projects based on the international best practices and financial institutions' requirements i.e HSAP-IHA, IFC, Equator Principles.
  • To support the planning, implementation and monitoring of international projects' social studies and programmes such as Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), host country Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) and social studies i.e. for Indonesia; Analisis Dampak dan Lingkungan (AMDAL), Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Plan (LARAP) etc.
  • To be the reference point to guide and provide technical advice to the working team across Sarawak Energy and JV projects in other countries.
  • To manage consultancy work in relations with social studies of the international projects in accordance with the objectives and desired outcomes of the studies.
  • To support the due diligence exercise on social components of the international projects for financing purpose.
  • To advise the Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) teams in social engagement, planning and implementation of Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) programmes in line with the laws and regulations of the country and international best practices.
  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of social plans required for the projects.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the international projects, as well as an understanding of how that impacts the stakeholders.
QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Qualification: B.Sc. or higher Degree in Social Science, Anthropology or of any discipline with relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years' experience in tasks related to social management and studies associated to hydropower development.
  • Have experience and in-depth knowledge of International best practices on social management in hydropower development such as HSAP-IHA, IFC, Equatorial Principles and the key articles of the UNDRIP and UNSDGs.
  • Have knowledge and able to imbed the IHA Protocol into the local project model, applying the International Finance Corporation best practices, complying with the standards of the Equatorial Principles and the articles of the UNDRIP into the local context.
  • Have experience in implementing social studies related to hydropower development.
  • Ground experience in community engagement and CSR works would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of AMDAL studies (social component) in Indonesia would be added advantage.
SKILLS:
  • Excellent reporting skill, presentation skill & public speaking.
  • Able to speak and write proficiently in English.
  • Good understanding of Bahasa Melayu (Bahasa Indonesia is an added advantage).
  • Good understanding of local business environment & industry trends.
MAJOR CHALLENGES:
