About the role

The IT Security Operations Senior Analyst is responsible for managing security systems protecting Amcor global information and assets against cybersecurity threats and escalations of daily IT security events. This role works at the direction of the IT Security Operations Manager and collaboratively with other Security SOC and Engineering Analysts to detect and respond to information security incidents, maintain and follow procedures for security event alerting, and lead security investigations.

The IT Security Operations Senior Analyst should have expert level skills with the principles of network and endpoint security, current threats, attack trends, and have an expert knowledge of security principles such as defense in depth and MITRE framework.

This role is expected to work 5 days a week with 2 of those days being weekends, Saturday and Sunday.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Adherence to global IT security standards, policies, procedures and principles
  • Identify, analyze and manage indicators of compromise for security solutions and alerts
  • Review and identify key threat intelligence information to create leadership briefings
  • Perform real-time security log and event analysis taking appropriate action within defined parameters
  • Research and analysis of security threats and industry security trends
  • Regular report out of IT security events and incidents along with remediation activities
  • Serve as an escalation point and backup to IT Security SOC team members
  • Act as a mentor and coach junior team members
  • Lead security investigations to determine root cause, impact and remediation steps
  • Conducts log-based and endpoint-based threat detection to detect, protect and remediate threats from multiple sources
  • Correlates activity across assets (endpoint, network, apps) and environments (on-premises, cloud) to identify patterns of anomalous activity
  • Works with security information and event management (SIEM) to manage/tune the system, create/manage the detection content and actively watch for alerts
  • Provides users with incident response support, including mitigating actions to contain activity and facilitating forensics analysis when necessary
  • Lead identification of new threats, detection rules and drive improvement to security detections
  • Work to continuously improve security processes and procedures in support of the IT security strategy
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelors - IT or related field or comparable work experience
  • 5+ years of information security experience with foundational knowledge in multiple areas including security operations centers, End Point Protection and SIEM technologies
  • Preferred - CEH, CySA+, CISSP
  • Ability to work on confidential incidents, investigations and projects
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one
  • Energy and passion with an eye towards continuous improvement in self and team processes
  • Ability to effectively work cross-functionally with a proven high level of collaboration skills in a global environment
  • Must be results orientated with the ability to multi-task, respond to needs quickly and meet deadlines
  • Ability to self-prioritize and use well established organizational skills and have the ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to clearly communicate at all levels in the organization
