Position Overview and Objectives:



Responsible for Data Centre NOC operation - Oversee complex network components and are responsible for network management. They perform troubleshooting daily. The work of a NOC engineer entails maintaining network, servers, and telecom equipment in an organization.

Network Monitoring:

Monitor network systems, devices, and infrastructure to detect and resolve network issues promptly. This includes monitoring network performance, analyzing logs, and responding to alerts and incidents.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

Identify and diagnose network problems using various network monitoring tools, protocols, and techniques. Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, such as connectivity problems, network congestion, and hardware failures.

Incident Management:

Handle and manage network incidents, including recording incidents, escalating as needed, and ensuring timely resolution. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as network engineers, system administrators, and vendors, to resolve complex issues.

Network Maintenance:

Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software upgrades, firmware updates, and configuration changes. Ensure that network equipment, such as routers, switches, and firewalls, are properly configured and updated.

Network Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures. Document network changes, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for future reference.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

Monitor network performance metrics and identify areas for improvement. Recommend and implement network optimization strategies to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability.

Security Monitoring:

Monitor network security systems, such as intrusion detection/prevention systems and firewalls, to detect and respond to security incidents. Collaborate with the security team to investigate and mitigate security threats.

Change Management:

Participate in change management processes, ensuring that network changes are properly planned, tested, and implemented with minimal disruption to network services.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with other IT teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and help desk personnel, to address network-related issues. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing timely updates on network incidents and resolutions.

Continuous Learning:

Stay up to date with emerging network technologies, industry best practices, and advancements in network monitoring tools. Continuously enhance technical skills through self-learning, training, and certifications.



Qualifications:



Minimum 3 years' experience of NOC operation in Data Centre / Telecommunication industry

Degree or Diploma or related field (or equivalent experience)

Shift duty required, Provide 24 x 7 support.

Participates in the management of 24x7 NOC operations for assigned data centres, delivering standardized services including physical access, remote hands, hardware inventory management, installation and cabling, and data centre operations site management.

Develops and nurtures strong relationships with other technology organizations and identifies opportunities to provide additional service capabilities.

Partners with the Critical Environment team to plan and execute agreed power maintenance events.

Fosters a culture of customer-focused behaviours and continuous operational improvement.

Participates in the delivery of data centre optimization and closure programs.

Perform additional job duties as required.

Certifications such as CCNA or equivalent is a plus.



Knowledge and Experience:



3 years Data Centre NOC Engineer experience at L2 preferred.

Strong knowledge of networking principles, protocols, and technologies (eg. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)

Experience with network monitoring tools and technologies (eg. SNMP, NetFlow, packet capture analysis)

Familiarity with network hardware, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

Understanding of network security principles and practices.

Proficiency in troubleshooting network issues and conducting root cause analysis.
