Job Summary

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining

scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines and platforms

. This role enables analytics, reporting, and data science by ensuring data is

accurate, timely, and accessible

across the organization.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Pipeline & Platform Development

Design, develop, and maintain

ETL/ELT pipelines

for structured and semi-structured data. Build and optimize

batch and real-time data ingestion

pipelines. Ensure data pipelines are

scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant

.
Data Modeling & Storage

Design and manage

data models, data marts, and data warehouses/lakes

. Optimize data storage for performance, cost, and analytics use cases. Implement data partitioning, indexing, and lifecycle management strategies.
Data Quality, Governance & Security

Implement

data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring

. Ensure data pipelines comply with

data governance, security, and regulatory standards

. Manage metadata, lineage, and documentation.
Collaboration & Support

Work closely with

data analysts, BI developers, data scientists, and business teams

. Support analytics and reporting use cases by providing clean and reliable datasets. Troubleshoot data issues and perform root cause analysis.
DevOps & Automation

Automate data workflows using

CI/CD pipelines

. Monitor pipeline performance and implement proactive alerting. Improve operational efficiency through automation and tooling.
Technical Skills (Mandatory)

Programming Languages

Python, Scala, or Java

Data & Querying

Strong SQL

Data Integration

ETL/ELT tools (e.g. Airflow, Informatica, Talend, dbt)

Databases

Relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) Analytical (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake)

Big Data / Streaming

(as applicable) Spark, Kafka
Nice to Have

Cloud platforms:

AWS / Azure / GCP

Data lakes & formats: Parquet, Delta Lake, Iceberg Containerization & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes Experience in

banking, finance, or regulated environments

Knowledge of data privacy and compliance standards

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM4,472.94 - RM13,298.60 per month
