Objectives of the Position BASF Shared Services Center Kuala Lumpur was established in 2005 to provide functional services in Finance, Controlling, Information Services, Human Resources, Environment, Health & Safety, Procurement, and Import-Export Order Management to BASF companies in the Asia-Pacific region. The center is part of BASF\xe2\x80\x99s Global Business Services division, with three other sites in Berlin and Ludwigshafen in Germany and in Montevideo, Uruguay. The Data Engineering team in the Global Technology Unit as part of the BASF Global Business Services implements new solutions and algorithms to improve and extent our services together with Data Analysts in the Service Delivery Units. This includes creating a framework for use case management, getting privileged access to expert databases and tools, sharing of best practices as well as the technical implementation of use cases.
Main Task As a Data Engineer in our team, you will have the following tasks:

• Develop, implement and modify databases, data collection systems, and data analytics according to requests;
• Conceptualize and design logical data models and flowcharts;
• Improve DB performance by conducting tests, troubleshoot and integrating new elements;
• Develop concepts for knowledge-building and knowledge documentation as well as carrying out corresponding measures to broaden knowledge;
• In day-to-day business, you will support our employees and partners in technical and procedural issues and questions;
• You drive efficiency and effectiveness improvements of processes and backend structures as well as implementing them from an end-to-end perspective;
• You will lead BASF Group-wide projects and initiatives, ensuring that best practice solutions are developed and implemented together with our stakeholders.

Requirements Technical Skills (mandatory):

• Working experience in SQL and NoSQL database design and administration
• Working experience in data collection, warehousing and transformation activities
• Working experience using ETL tools such as Alteryx, Trifacta, Databricks, Azure Data Factory
• Working experience in Microsoft Azure, GCP and/or AWS environments
• Good know-how of frameworks, orchestration, logging, monitoring and security aspects within a data engineering context

Technical Skills (mandatory):

• Good understanding of BASF SAP systems and business acumen

Professional Experience / Skills:

• Has a keen interest in technology and innovation
• Creative and motivated team player
• Good business communication, presentation and writing skills in English; German language skills is a plus
• Able to communicate at all levels of the organization with openness, clarity, organizational awareness, and empathy to achieve the desired results, particularly in driving organization change
• Comfortable working in a global, cross-functional, cross-site and multinational environment with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders
• Preferably with some international working experience
