Database Administrator (MS SQL)

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and manage multiple versions of MS SQL Server on standalone and cluster setups.
  • Migrate databases between different SQL Server versions.
  • Implement and manage Always On availability groups.
  • Understand SQL Server architecture and components.
  • Configure and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions like replication, log shipping, mirroring, and clustering.
  • Create and execute maintenance plans for databases, including index management and integrity checks.
  • \xc2\xb7Resolve production issues, analyze root causes, and implement preventative measures.
  • Familiarity with Windows server, security delegation, and storage components.
  • Optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for improved system performance.
  • Proficient with SQL management tools like SQL Management Studio and Enterprise Manager.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve deadlock, blocking, and locking issues.
  • Perform database backups and restores, including backups to cloud storage.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based SQL server configurations and support.
  • Audit database configurations and security settings.
  • Manage database structures, access permissions, and user accounts.
  • Experience with recovering system databases and resolving Temp DB issues.
  • Handle database-related tasks like capacity planning, design, and modeling.
  • Participate in change management processes and obtain approvals for database changes.
  • Perform database maintenance tasks like patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze and recommend solutions for database-related issues.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and audit requirements are met.
  • Manage incidents, change requests, and backups.
  • Collaborate with vendors on systems-related matters.
  • Prepare reports and technical documentation.
  • Participate in regional and global projects.
  • Coordinate with MS/Oracle teams for critical database issues.
  • Available for emergency support in a 24x7 model.
  • Familiarity with DB server decommissioning process.
  • Proficiency in using DMVs and DBCC commands for database management
Requirements:
  • Ability to act under strong pressure and to manage efficiently in crisis situation
  • Ability to evaluate information, identify key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgment, experience and common sense
Professional Experience:
  • Minimum 5 - 6 years of experience in a DB support role in the IT field.
  • Good knowledge in installation and roll out of DB using Oracle, MS SQL, SQL Anywhere.
  • Knowledge of Service Management tool (e.g. ServiceNow, BMC, IBM, etc.)
Education & Training
  • Education in IT
  • Professional certificate in Databases, e.g. OCA, OCP, MCSA : SQL
  • ITIL certification
Minimum Requirements:
  • Good to excellent command of English.
  • Any additional language is an advantage.
