supports the Chef de Partie in preparing and presenting high-quality hot dishes. This role requires strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Demi Chef ensures consistency in taste, presentation, and hygiene standards while mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook hot dishes according to standardized recipes and plating guidelines.
Assist in mise en place for meats, vegetables, sauces, and hot appetizers.
Monitor food quality, portion control, and cooking times to ensure consistency.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the hot kitchen area, adhering to food safety standards.
Support inventory control by properly storing ingredients and minimizing waste.
Collaborate with Commis and kitchen team during service to ensure smooth operations.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and labeling.
Participate in menu development and provide feedback on dish improvements.
Uphold grooming standards and punctuality as per company policy.
Report any incidents, complaints, or equipment issues to the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in hot section.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen operations.
Ability to work under pressure and multitask during peak hours.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physically fit to handle long hours and hot kitchen conditions.
Culinary certification or relevant training is an advantage.
