Job Description


:Job OverviewResponsible for providing expertise in the field of electrical system and components of rolling stock within the organization including relevant technical advice to cross-disciplinary engineering areas, reviewing design initiatives in meeting engineering standards, and establishing competency standards for staff to be equipped with relevant skills with the aim to achieve delivery of all related projects effectively and efficiently within the agreed financial and service targets.Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise - Primary point of contact for all electrical systems related to rolling stock, and provide expert-level knowledge of electrical components, subsystems, and systems used in rolling stock, such as traction systems, power distribution, control systems, auxiliary power units, and wiring systems
  • Design and Integration - Collaborate with engineering teams in the review and analysis of design deliverables (electrical schematics, diagram, technical specifications etc.) of electrical systems in rolling stock that is submitted by the Consultants and/or Contractors to ensure compliance to technical requirements (performance, safety, regulatory and O&M objectives)
  • Testing & Commissioning - Review the testing and commissioning (T&C) programme for the rolling stock, attend and witness these activities including Fault-free Running Test prior to the acceptance and delivery to site for revenue operation (when required) to meet the mandatory, voluntary, and contractual requirements for the construction, commissioning and operation of rolling stock and components.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Stay abreast of industry regulations, standards, and guidelines related to rolling stock electrical systems
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer - Arrange training sessions and sharing knowledge and best practices for internal teams and external stakeholders on rolling stock electrical systems.
  • Site Acceptance Completion Certificate - Recommend issuance of Site Acceptance Completion Certificate upon completion of all the required tests to certify Client\'s expectation are met as per the required specifications.
  • Handover Coordination - Lead the coordination of handing over of the completed rolling stocks work from the Contractor to the Client with the aim of smooth transfer and ensuring all meet required specification as per standards and contractual commitments.
  • Stakeholder Management - Build and establish good relationship with both internal and external stakeholders in daily interactions to enhance project reliability and maintainability.
  • People Management & Development - Provide overall direction, support, feedback, coaching, opportunities for development of Rolling Stock Engineers and/or take corrective action when appropriate to build a high performing team with high standards of excellence.
Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10 to 15 years of working experience, with at least 7 years in management exposure, preferably with a good understanding of the depot and workshop environment.
  • Experience in electrical design (systems) and delivery in rail projects.
  • Strong leadership skills, motivating and inspiring confidence in others.
  • Proven track record in delivering successful rail projects.
  • Ability to investigate technical issues and derive performance indicators for part or entire systems using analytical skills and the scientific method.
