The Role Responsibilities

Job Purpose

  • Responsible in leading the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and Operational Risk Type Framework (ORTF) within the Branches and Retail Products Sales process within Consumer, Private and Business Banking (CPBB) globally.
  • Partner with Business Owner and 2nd Line of Defense (2nd LoD) to implement dynamic forward looking control monitors through policies and effective controls design to support business goals and objectives.
  • Lead with guidance and advice to the regional and country teams on policies, standards, and global process documents with implementation and rollout acorss markets.
  • Leverage and devise assurance dashboard, optimize controls effectiveness through data analytics and peer reviews in ensuring identified risks are managed transparently.
  • Responsible in managing risk events and to ensure lessons learnt are developed and reflected through existing established process and arrive action item closure.
  • Support the holistic Business Risk Management team\xe2\x80\x99s strategy in alignment of CPBB strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Risk identification and Assessment with Alignment to Business Objectives
  • Collaborate with Business Heads and 2nd Line of Defense (2nd LoD) to identify and assess potential risks in alignment of business goals and objectives.
  • Partner with various stakeholders to ensure identified risks are assessed based on criticality with alignment and agreement on mitigation strategy / contorls in support of Business goals.
  • Assess and optmize the control environment including, but not limited to, design, execution and testing with alignment to Business implemented changes on technology and process automation.
Risk Governance
  • Align the operational risk management approach in function / domain / to the Risk Management Framework and oversee its effective application across markets.
  • Ensure, jointly with the Business / Function that the Process Owners understand and accept their risk management responsibilities in relation to ORTF with clear alignment in support of Business Goals.
  • Support the CPBB RC and its sub-committees in their governance.
Risk Monitoring
  • Design, maintain and monitor all controls and monitors with accurate and robust reporting.
  • Devise mechanism such as assurance programme, peer review and data analytics to ensure controls effectiveness and execution.
  • Periodically review operational risk assessments to ensure these appropriately reflect changes in environment, mitigating controls and the progress of treatment plans.
  • Monitor treatment plans to ensure they are implemented accordingly by the business.
Regulatory and Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
Overall Support across CPBB
  • Support the overall BRM agenda within Business Banking and Personal Banking.
  • Stakeholders management across other Group stakeholders and stakeholders within Country.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • 8 - 10 years of Retail experience in managing branches, sales process and distribution channels in a mutli-national financial institution with prior experience in risk identification and control design.
  • Demonstratable prior experience on key stakeholders management and engagement with country, regional or group management team.
  • Prior experience with Operational Risk Framework and demonstratable understanding on market dynamics and inherent risk associated with channels and sales process.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-focused with the ability to interpret large volume of information.
  • Problem solving skills with ability to influence across all levels of business.
  • Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimum hands-on supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and additional any local languages preferable.
