The Document Controller is responsible for managing and controlling all company documents related to manufacturing, machining processes, quality control, customer requirements, and certifications. This role ensures that documentation is accurate, up-to-date, properly maintained, and compliant with industry and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and control the flow of technical documents, including customer original drawings, engineering drawings, machining work instructions, CNC programs, quality inspection reports, and customer specifications.
Manage document revision control, ensuring only the latest approved versions are in use.
Create and maintain a structured document filing system (physical and/or electronic).
Ensure compliance with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
Support audits by providing required documents and records in a timely manner.
Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to issue, retrieve, and archive documents.
Register and track incoming and outgoing documents, including purchase orders, delivery notes, and certificates of conformance.
Provide training and support to staff on document control procedures.
Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive documents.
Assist in preparing documents for internal and external audits.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Document Controller in a machining, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
Strong understanding of document management systems and industry standards.
Familiarity with machining processes, technical drawings, and engineering terminology.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document control software (e.g., SharePoint, M-Files, or ERP systems).
Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality standards is highly desirable.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Education and Experience:
Diploma in precision engineering or equivalent required.
Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred (e.g., in business administration, engineering support, or related field).
2+ years of experience in a document control role within a machining or manufacturing environment
