DRAFTSMAN (PEB Steel Structures)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsman to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will produce precise 2D drawings and 3D models for PEB steel structures, collaborating with engineers, fabricators, and project managers to ensure accurate fabrication and efficient on-site assembly.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain comprehensive shop drawings, erection drawings, assembly drawings, and material schedules for PEB projects.

Prepare 3D models and BIM (if applicable) for steel structures, connections, anchors, and cladding.

Translate architectural and structural design intent into detailed technical drawings and bills of materials.

Coordinate with engineers, fabricators, erectors, and vendors to resolve design and fabrication issues.

Ensure drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications (e.g., AISC, Eurocodes, local Malaysian standards, AWS welding standards).

Review and mark-up drawings from consultants and engineers; incorporate changes and issue revised drawings.

Produce cutting lists, welding and bolting details, bolt hole layouts, and connection diagrams.

Maintain drawing registers, version control, and document control procedures.

Support site teams with fabrication and erection queries; provide as-built drawings and documentation upon project completion.

Ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of drawings to meet project milestones.

Requirements

Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

Experience: 2-5 years (or more) of drafting experience in PEB/steel structures or heavy steel fabrication.

Software: Proficient in AutoCAD (2D and 3D), Tekla Structures or SDS/2 (for detailing), Revit or similar BIM software; familiarity with 3D modeling and clash detection is a plus.

Knowledge: Basic understanding of structural steel connections, welding details, bolt groups, base plates, moment connections, and fabrication tolerances.

Coding/Standards: Familiarity with Malaysian Building Standards, AISC/Eurocode (as applicable), and relevant industry codes; knowledge of shop drawing standards and document control.

Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Personal: Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Language: Proficient in English; knowledge of Malay is advantageous.
