EHS Engineer III



Your Job:

To proactively promote, participate and provide supports in the development and maintenance of the Mill Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) in a manner that will help to eliminate occupational injuries and illness at the mill as well as the Quality Management System that comply to the desired requirement and meeting the CSCU expectation through consistent implementations of the established standards.

The incumbent is fully responsible to manage the mill Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) system and implementation; by ensuring full compliance to the corporate and local legislation and requirements through strong collaborations with various operation team.

Work is completed in manufacturing facilities. In the typical K-C manufacturing environment, depending on location, can be exposed to dust, heat, noise, moisture up to clean room environments. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times (may include safety glasses, ear protection, hair nets, beard bags (if applicable), full gowning.) Role is manufacturing facility based.

Role Overview & Primary Accountabilities:

  • Develop, review, update and implement EHS-MS elements to ensure targets are met for all the corporate and local regulatory requirements within the budgeted cost.
  • The incumbent shall be responsible for the overall management of the mill EHS Management System.
  • Auditing and inspecting the place of work to determine whether any machineries, plant, equipment, substance, appliance, or process is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury or property damage to any person working in the workplace and to ensure effectiveness of EHS-MS implementation.
  • Investigate any accident, near miss accident, sentinel events, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning, or disease which happen in the workplace to prevent future recurrence.
  • Collect, review, analyse and maintain statistics on accident and injuries. Plant inspection findings and all other relevant inspection programs which have occurred at the workplace. To study and analyse the accident pattern so that current issues are within control.
  • Timely reporting of EHS compliance requirements to the regulatory bodies such as DOSH, DOE and to the KC\xe2\x80\x99s corporate.
  • Manage, improve, and audit the mill fire protection and prevention system on a regular interval basis to ensure all the system meets all the regulatory and performance standards and is readily available for deployment when in time of needs.
  • Develop and implement specific safety and environmental programs to create total awareness on safety and environment on the part of our employees so as to instill the safety and environmental conscious culture within the mill team. This includes the EHS training, campaigns etc.
  • Identify relevant EHS related training needs and to implement those training to ensure all employees are equipped with relevant EHS skills and knowledge that will help them to perform their tasks safely while meeting all the regulatory standards.
Essential Requirements:
  • Degree in Process or Manufacturing related Engineering discipline OR applied science with experience worked in related field.
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Possess a Certificate in Safety & Health Officer by NIOSH and registered with DOSH (Green Book holder)
  • Well versed with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and those which is related to Environmental Regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership qualities (LQs) with excellence interpersonal, analytical and communication skills. Ability to make sound decision with calculated risks.
  • English fluency in both writing and speaking.
  • Possessing a competency certificate in either Schedule Waste Competent Person, Bag Filter Operations Competent Person or Operation of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems
  • Competent Person will be an added advantage.
