The EHS Engineer is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations within a car battery manufacturing plant. This role requires a
DOSH-registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO)
and plays a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all EHS-related laws and regulations, including OSHA, FMA, and the Environmental Quality Act
Act as the
DOSH-registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO)
for the plant
Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and programs
Conduct HIRARC, risk assessments, and regular safety audits
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss cases; prepare reports and corrective actions
Organize and conduct safety, health, and environmental training for employees
Monitor chemical handling, scheduled waste management, and DOE compliance
Liaise with authorities such as
DOSH, BOMBA, and DOE
Prepare EHS reports and support internal and external audits (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001)
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or a related field
Must be DOSH-certified and registered as a Safety & Health Officer (SHO)
Experience in a manufacturing environment (battery or chemical industry experience is an advantage)
Strong knowledge of Malaysian EHS regulations and legal requirements
Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
Strong documentation, reporting, and audit skills
Proactive, firm, and able to work independently
