JOB DESCRIPTION:MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
Working under general supervision, is accountable for to providing expert, hands-on implementation of Six Sigma methods and related tools to identify and capitalize on moderate risk/highly complex continuous improvement opportunities throughout the design, development, test, validation, and performance life cycle. Work assignments are performed in accordance with Company policy and procedures, regulatory agency standards/requirements, and within specified parameters. Independently conceives, plans, and conducts complex and/or original technical projects. Responsible for successful completion of moderate risk assignments that will have a significant impact on the department. Works cooperatively as well as productively on assigned project teams. Proactively identifies and shares opportunities, concerns, and solutions with coworkers. Completes comprehensive reports and makes presentations. Identifies the components of assigned projects and allocates time appropriately based on priorities. Identifies relevant sources of information and utilizes them to make decisions. Tracks performance against specific objectives; contributions affect team/organization results. Performs moderate risk/highly
complex assignments that require the development of solutions to a variety of problems that generally requires design work. Applies advanced engineering and Six Sigma principles, concepts, and methods to solve difficult problems with some precedent which are multifaceted or cross-disciplinary in nature; exhibits ingenuity and creativity. Is accountable for identifying and routinely using the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Usually manages and/or leads an element or a task of a project. Mentors and oversees the technical duties for less experienced Engineering/Technician staff members.Internal: Works closely with members of various development and test validation engineering groups along with sales, Marketing (where applicable), manufacturing operations, quality, and members of other departments in various reporting relationships as required in order to accomplish assigned objectives and improve Six Sigma competency development as it relates to new and existing product development initiatives. Interfaces with other engineers in the development and troubleshooting of system requirements, plans, and designs.
Actively leads and communicates task status to management and ensures that changes are incorporated into projects. Participates on one or more teams; provides work direction or guidance to a group of employees. Mentors less experienced professionals; provides guidance to and collaborates with other professionals.External: Sources, communicates with, and oversees vendors to support the development or improvement of new product development designs or processes.Working under general supervision, works directly with all departments within the organization to provide expert hands-on implementation of continuous improvement (CI) methods and practices to identify and capitalize on complex CI opportunities throughout the design, development, test, validation, and performance life cycle. Advanced Industrial Engineering (IE), Lean and Six Sigma tools may include, but are not limited to: Process Flow, Load Chart Analysis, Cause & Effect, Measurement Systems Analysis, Pull Systems, Design of Experiments, Design for Manufacturability, Quality Functional Deployment (QFD), Voice of the Customer (VOC), and Design for Six Sigma methodologies. Demonstrates effective facilitation skills when working with colleagues across the company. Work requires the application of theoretical principles and creative/analytical techniques typically acquired in a four-year or more academic course of study. Applies advanced engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Performs technical studies and stays abreast of technical advancements in the IE, Lean and Six Sigma fields while incorporating into customized materials for deployment across all divisions. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their

  • Essential Functions: Number and list the significant/essential duties, tasks or responsibilities which employees in this position are actually required to perform.
  • Develops and enhances CI (IE, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) methodologies and training materials.
  • Provides CI training (tools, methodologies, etc.) to support plant CI initiatives, review, assessment, certification (Orange Belt, Green Belt, etc.) process and other CI related activities.
  • Works directly with functional departments to identify and capitalize process improvement opportunities throughout the entire value streams.
  • Leads, facilitates CI projects across functional divisions to support management, organization and business needs and expectation.
  • Draw upon industry expertise and experience to support the use of best practices while driving the best solution and methods that will optimize the results to the organization.
  • Other Duties: Number and list any important but non-essential and/or infrequent duties performed.
  • Evaluates trains and utilizes available software for complex data analysis and support of CI initiatives.
  • Contributes to and/or facilitates the resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Perform self-analysis within CI department for improved materials and workshop delivery.
  • Remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise, applicable regulatory requirements and restrictions, and a general knowledge of the company\xe2\x80\x99s products, markets, policies, and objectives as well as industry trends. Stays
abreast of current and novel Lean and Six Sigma practices through reviewing literature, trade journals, being active in relevant professional associations, and by attending conferences/seminars. Communicates technical advancements to colleagues and associates.
