Key Responsibilities1. Engineering Team Management
Plan and structure the engineering department (Process, Equipment, and Facilities Engineering).
Manage recruitment, training, and performance evaluation aligned with Malaysia's semiconductor talent landscape.
Set annual team goals and incentive mechanisms to enhance technical capability and efficiency.
Build partnerships with Malaysian semiconductor associations, universities, and research institutions to integrate advanced technologies and strengthen the factory's position in the national semiconductor ecosystem.
2. Semiconductor Production Engineering Planning & Implementation
Lead the planning and construction of semiconductor production lines (wafer fabrication, assembly, and testing).
Develop layout designs, equipment selection, installation, and commissioning plans according to production capacity and client requirements.
Coordinate with local Malaysian suppliers to ensure timely and quality production launch.
Provide technical support for
New Product Introduction (NPI)
, including process setup, equipment debugging, and pilot production troubleshooting to ensure smooth mass production and compliance with both Malaysian and international standards.
3. Process and Equipment Management
Oversee semiconductor manufacturing processes, optimizing parameters in wafer fabrication, assembly, and testing.
Utilize engineering tools such as
DOE (Design of Experiments)
and
SPC (Statistical Process Control)
to analyze data, identify yield issues, and enhance process stability and efficiency.
Manage preventive maintenance schedules and spare parts planning for all production equipment.
Introduce advanced equipment management systems (e.g., Smart Maintenance Systems) to improve
OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)

Supervise facility upgrades to meet evolving semiconductor manufacturing needs.
4. Engineering Innovation and Cost Control
Promote engineering innovation by initiating R&D projects on process optimization, equipment upgrades, and new materials.
Leverage Malaysian government technology grants and incentives to support R&D cost efficiency.
Convert innovation outcomes into production competitiveness, meeting global semiconductor market demand for high-performance, high-reliability products.
Prepare and manage engineering budgets (equipment, facilities, R&D), monitor expenditures, and reduce costs through supply chain optimization and process improvement.
5. Cross-Department Collaboration and Customer Support
Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Sales departments to ensure product stability, production scheduling, and on-time delivery.
Participate in root cause analysis and provide engineering solutions to improve yield and process efficiency.
Support Sales and Customer Engineering teams by providing technical consultations and customized process solutions.
Lead customer audits and technical evaluations, clearly demonstrating the factory's engineering capabilities and compliance.
Gather customer feedback for continuous engineering improvement and satisfaction enhancement.
6. Compliance and Standardization
Ensure all engineering activities comply with Malaysia's
environmental
,
safety
, and
industry
regulations.
Establish internal compliance systems and conduct regular audits to prevent operational risks.
Participate in local semiconductor standardization initiatives and contribute to industry technical working groups to enhance the factory's influence and technical leadership in Malaysia's semiconductor sector.

Professional certifications in semiconductor manufacturing or process engineering are advantageous.
2. Industry Experience
7-10 years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry, with
at least 3 years of management experience
in Malaysia or Southeast Asian semiconductor factories.
Strong understanding of wafer fabrication and/or assembly & testing processes.
Experience in multinational or cross-border semiconductor projects (e.g., capacity transfer, JV setups) is preferred.
3. Technical Skills
Proficient in semiconductor processes (lithography, etching, doping, bonding, molding, and testing).
Strong knowledge of semiconductor equipment (lithography, etching, assembly, and test tools).
Skilled in tools such as
CAD
(for layout design),
DOE
(for process optimization), and
Minitab
(for data analysis).
Familiar with Malaysia's semiconductor industry policies, standards, and supply chain environment.
4. Management & Communication Skills
Proven leadership in managing diverse engineering teams.
Ability to motivate and develop local Malaysian engineers, aligning with multicultural values.
Excellent communication in
English
; proficiency in
Mandarin
or
Bahasa Malaysia
is a plus.
Strong cross-functional and cross-regional coordination skills.
5. Personal Attributes
Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to perform under pressure (e.g., NPI launch or equipment downtime).
