Job description: - Ensures compliance within and throughout the facility by performing inspections, conducting surveys and inventories, and sampling air, wastewater and hazardous waste. - Reviews new processes and process changes for safety and environmental impact and applicable regulations; evaluates and selects new process or control equipment and modifications which will reduce or minimize pollution. - Plans, coordinates and supervises installation, and construction/demolition projects. - Completes environmental or chemical usage reports, shipping papers, and requests for data for submission to government agencies, internal and external customers; prepares environmental permit applications. - Communicates (in writing and verbally) requirements and changes in safety and environment regulations to manufacturing and support personnel; prepares comments on proposed regulatory changes for submittal to site EHS management. - Conducts studies, laboratory analyses, and engineering experiments related to pollution control and prevention; designs new process or control equipment and modifications to reduce or minimize pollution. - Provides technical guidance and regulatory consulting to in house manufacturing and related support personnel. - Interfaces with regulatory agency personnel regarding interpretation and implementation of regulations, site inspections, permit applications, and technical data requests. - Participates in compliance and/or liability audits of other Motorola facilities as part of Business or Corporate team. - Interprets regulations and makes recommendations to EHS management regarding the development of specific compliance programs and policies; prepares comments on proposed regulatory changes for submittal to site management and regulatory agencies. - May provide training and guidance for site personnel, ensuring project completion. - Set up and perform major preventative maintenances on complex pieces of equipment. - Recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. - Evaluate equipment improvements; collect detailed characterization data, analyze and report data. - Evaluate tools, consumables and equipment. - Perform equipment failure analysis (including preventative and unscheduled maintenance). - Troubleshoot and diagnose difficult, infrequent problems with equipment under minimal direction or documentation. - Test and debug boards and software. - Repair or prevent diagnosed problem. - Troubleshoot to component level. - Modify equipment. - Analyze data and interpret results. - Write technical reports to document equipment modifications. - Assists in development of specifications to document equipment maintenance procedures. - Use an existing database to develop preventative maintenance. - Source outside repair expertise; source parts to decrease downtime; develop preventative maintenance procedure plan and schedule.
