Responsible for assisting in the operation, maintenance, and improvement of building systems and utilities, with a specific focus on electrical systems, as required by the Chargeman A0/A1 certification. The role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, promotes safety, and supports the engineering team in delivering efficient facility operations across electrical, mechanical, and general infrastructure systems.
Responsibilities
1. Electrical Systems Management
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot low-voltage (A0) or medium-voltage (A1) electrical systems.
Ensure all electrical installations comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) regulations.
Perform regular inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of switchboards, DBs, MCCs, and backup generators.
Monitor energy usage and support initiatives for energy saving and efficiency.
2. Facility Maintenance Support
Assist in managing HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection systems, and others.
Perform daily building inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
Respond to facility-related breakdowns and emergencies promptly and safely.
3. Safety & Compliance
Comply with all electrical safety regulations and company SOPs.
Participate in audits and support documentation for compliance with DOSH, BOMBA, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements.
Maintain up-to-date electrical system drawings and service records.
4. Project and Improvement Works
Assist in coordinating facility upgrade projects, equipment installations, and renovations.
Liaise with vendors, contractors, and consultants during maintenance or project activities.
Monitor project timelines, quality, and adherence to specifications.
5. Reporting and Documentation
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, checklists, and incident reports.
Prepare basic monthly reports on electrical usage, downtime, and maintenance schedules.
Assist in asset inventory and tracking of electrical equipment and tools.
6. Team Collaboration
Work closely with senior engineers, chargeman, technicians, and safety officers.
Support the facility team in executing preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
Participate in regular team meetings, training, and safety briefings.
7. Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Compliance
Responsible to understand and comply to related Environmental Management System and Occupational Safety and Health Management System requirements.
Cooperate with employer with regard to environmental, safety and health at workplace.
Job Requirements / Qualification
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Valid Chargeman Certificate A0 or A1 (endorsed by Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
Basic knowledge of electrical safety, maintenance procedures, and local regulations.
0-2 years of working experience in facility or building maintenance (fresh graduates with certification also considered).
Ability to read electrical drawings and use test instruments.
Preferred Skills:
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to work in normal working hours (9.00am-6.00pm), on-call, or during weekends when needed.
