About Institute (UNU-Centre Putrajaya)

UNU Centre Administration is responsible for developing and implementing administrative policies governing the UNU and its global network of institutes and programmes. In addition, UNU Centre Administration provide services to internal clients in the areas of financial management, budgeting, human resources management, travel and procurement. UNU Centre Administration is located in Tokyo, Japan, with a global services centre based in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant is responsible for assisting with budgetary and reporting services, and supporting the financial closing process.

1. Assist the budgetary and reporting services for UNU offices while ensuring compliance with the applicable rules and regulations

  • Assist with the data entry and data extraction for budget journals and reports. This includes checking the accuracy of the calculations, chartfields, codings etc and organizing the data
  • Assist with verification of the supporting documents in preparation of the budget journals and reports.
2. Assist the implementation of effective financial closing and reporting
  • Assist with the data entry of journals, monthly financial reports and annual financial statements
  • Assist with the verification of the information extracted from the donor agreements into the Donor Agreement Summary in terms of payment schedules, milestones and reporting requirements
  • Assist with the monthly extraction of data for reconciliation and schedules
  • Assist with the compilation of supporting information required to respond to audit findings and recommendations
3. Assist knowledge building by compiling the knowledge sharing of lessons learnt and application of best practices in Finance.
  • Assist with the compilation of best practices that could be used as a guide
  • Provide administrative office support services to help ensure the smooth functioning of the Finance Unit
4. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and certification:
  • Diploma or degree in Accountancy, Business Administration, Business Studies or related field.
Experience:
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience for diploma holders; Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with good Excel spreadsheet skills
Desirable skills
  • Result-oriented, self-motivated and \xe2\x80\x9chands-on\xe2\x80\x9d with the ability to prioritize work and multi-task
Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in both oral and written English is required
Remuneration

The successful candidate will be employed under an national PSA contract. UNU offers an attractive compensation package including an annual net salary in the range of MYR 41,398 - MYR 52,438 commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Benefits include 30 days annual leave and a health insurance scheme.

UNU is not liable for any taxes that may be levied on the remuneration you receive under this contract. Payment of any such taxes remains the sole responsibility of PSA holders.

Duration of contract

The duration of the initial contract is 1 year. This is Personnel Service Agreement (PSA) contract with UNU, with the possibility for renewal subject to requirements and satisfactory work performance. The combined duration on a PSA contract with UNU may not exceed six (6) years. The mandatory age of retirement for PSA holders is 65 years.
