Position Summary

The Production Manager (NDC) has overall responsibility for the manufacture of NDC products. He leads a department, comprising of 3 production shifts, in the establishment and execution of all production activities required for the conversion of raw materials to finished products. In so doing, he is required to meet Quality, Speed, Cost and People objectives.

The Production Manager is also required to continuously make improvements to his plant operations. He is instrumental in the implementation of manufacturing strategic initiatives to ensure both sustainability and enhanced performances of his plant for the future.

He plans for resources for his plant on an annual basis, and justify these plans for approval by top management.

A day in the life of a First Line Manager

  • Manages all line quality control activities in a shift (sampling, analysis, sensory evaluation). The line laboratory is under his management (except for Line Laboratory ICP which remains the responsibility of the QA Department).
  • Ensures that the Production QMS and HAACP SOP\'s are flawlessly executed, trouble-shoots and resolve line quality deviations. He maintains a high standard of hygiene of the plant in his shift. In case of a major quality defect, he is able to effectively take prompt and corrective action in all the areas of Production, Engineering and Quality Assurance to minimize the impact of failure. (This includes blocking of raw materials, semi-finished and Finished Goods that have not yet been dispatched).
  • Identifies and brings in needed assistance from the QA Department in a timely manner to minimize impact of failure on the operation.
  • Ability to anticipate potential problems and take proactive action to resolve these problems before they result in failure is a primary requirement of the job. For this purpose, he makes constant observations and monitors trends.
What will make you successful
  • Degree in any Scientific Discipline (e.g. Food Technology, Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, etc.)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Manufacturing setting
  • Good attitude to work and ability to interact with people
  • Demonstration of leadership ability by leading a project within a factory environment
  • Demonstration of leadership skills in positively confronting inappropriate behaviour and using everyday coaching to ensure involvement of the workforce
  • Willing to commit into Continuous Rotational Shift
