Facilities Management (FM) and Protective Security (PS) is responsible for managing the physical risks associated with man-made and natural disaster events. The prime responsibility is to ensure the uptime of our facilities, the services provided to them and the security of all GSC-owned and leased premises in line with bank policy and procedures. Physical risk arises from a number of different sources which are primarily criminal or natural occurring events such as armed robbery, opportunist thieves, terrorism, social or political activism, vandalism, flooding, utility shortages, fire, strikes, mechanical, electrical or plumbing failures etc.

Facilities Management role will provide effective and compliant management across the portfolio for the country. The Facilities Management function includes the following specialist services: Engineering, Cleaning, Catering, Maintenance, Sustainability, Moves & Changes, Health & Safety, Managing Parking lots and Transportation

With a comprehensive knowledge in this area of specialism and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), the role holder is accountable for Facilities Management being appropriately managed and services delivered in line with CS strategy balancing performance, cost and risk mitigation.

Protective Security manages a number of other activities including executive/close protection, event security, traveler security, personal risk assessments, kidnap and ransom. FM retains the relationship with our strategic partner and asset management firm to maintain the uptime and delivery of building services.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

The role provides guidance and management of all FM and security related matters within the GSC. The role holder has several core areas of responsibility:

  • Operationally oversee all FM and PS activity in GSC Malaysia.
  • Manage the response and resolution to any material security or GSC related building incidents.
  • Manage PS and FM team including relationship with Third Party vendors and strategic partners.
  • Provide clear operational direction in line with Group strategy.
  • Build trusting relationships with key stakeholders based on a common understanding of roles and responsibilities.
  • SME for Protective Security
  • Ensure the PS team works in alignment with global and regional policy, Protective Security standards and applicable local regulations
What you will need to succeed in the role:

Job Context
  • The role holder is involved in all aspects of the management of FM and Security in all GSC facilities in Malaysia
  • The job holder is required to work interactively with internal colleagues to reach an acceptable and defensible risk assessment on a variety of issues
  • The job holder will provide support for the bank FM and Security team, where and when applicable
Major Challenges
  • HSBC employees and buildings are geographically spread, the threat and risk profiles need to be managed accordingly; though this is limited in the GSCs, the support for market teams means this role cannot be carried out in isolation
  • The size and reach of HSBC makes it a potential target for criminals and terrorist groups
  • The management of uptime to meet business expectations in the delivery of their services is a key focus, ensuring a ready to operate space for the GSC at all times
  • Timeliness and accuracy of response to any regulatory demand is required
  • Any new projects such as significant new builds, restacks, moves and changes including data centres or IT, MEP rooms and/or equipment will require tailored planning and must be compliant with FIM and procedural guidance
Requirements

What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Extensive knowledge of HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s structure, its processes and dependencies.
  • Significant FM and/or security management knowledge, understanding and practical experience.
  • Detailed understanding of building unavailabity, health and safety and security controls, techniques and their application.
  • Significant awareness of third-party influences on our ability to operate.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate and negotiate with all levels of management.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and an advanced thinker.
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skill.
  • Relevant industry qualifications and relevant membership to professional bodies.
