In your General Counsel, Malaysia role, you\'ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world. It starts with YOU. Role Overview & Primary Accountabilities: Provide legal advice, leadership, strategy, and risk management in all legal matters. Supporting country MD and APAC Scientific business team, as the legal business partner, to review the current operational practice, identify legal risks, propose changes required and lead for the implementation of the changes. Marketing claims: Provide guidance, advice on product developments, and approval of marketing claims and marketing materials. Competition law: Advice on pricing-related issues and competition law-related issues including interaction with competitors and trade associations. Intellectual Property: Advise on and lead IP disputes including counterfeiting and infringement. Contracts: Review and participate in the negotiation, review, and approval of material contracts. Data Privacy: Review initiatives that use personal data Disputes / Litigation: Lead and manage legal disputes and marketing claim challenges. Employment: Provide legal advice on employment-related issues, work closely with HR to ensure country practices, policies and work rules comply with relevant labor regulations and to maintain a harmonious relationship with Union, advise on employment disputes. Processes: Develop / update contract template. Develop/implement internal processes for contract review, marketing claims review, and other legal-related matters. Participate in negotiation and advice and be involved in the preparation of documentation for mergers, disposals, restructures strategic alliances, and acquisitions of companies. Elevate legal issues of importance to senior legal leaders and actively participate in knowledge sharing Work in partnership with APAC Compliance & Ethics Leader to drive compliance in geographies covered including driving compliance training and initiatives. Essential Requirements: Law degree and qualification to practice law in Malaysia, with at least 12 years experience ideally with a law firm, and also in-house with amulti-national company. Law Degree from English speaking university e.g. UK, United States, Australia, Singapore would be a plus. Mixed of top tier law firm and in-house experience with an MNC In-house experience outside Malaysia will be a plus but not necessary. Leadership experience gained preferably with an international company Fluency in English and Bahasa Melayu (both oral and written) Prepared to travel within Malaysia and regionally / globally as needed. Competencies: Highest ethical standards and professional integrity. Strong drive, accountability, and commitment to deliver results. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills. Able to communicate and deal with the different levels of the organization across functions, including senior management. Seasoned legal practitioner/leader with the ability to handle multiple assignments and lead major projects to successful completion. Problem solver with commercial acumen is a solutions-orientated, pragmatic but creative legal practitioner. A trusted business partner who can develop a close but unbiased relationship to business, and be able to influence and guide the MD / leadership team in legal and compliance matters. Ability to think strategically, take strategic risks, and recommend tough decisions. Capable of rational and analytic thinking leading to workable solutions which demonstrate sound and unbiased judgment. High resilience and agility in a fast-paced and changing environment. Ability to work independently and also as part of a diverse multicultural team with a team player attitude, respectful and collaborative. Technical : Must have superior knowledge of and experience managing matters related to contracts, marketing, and advertising-related laws, employment, competition law / antitrust, data privacy, litigation/disputes. Knowledge of anticorruption (local, FCPA, UKBA) and intellectual property are also expected.
