Own the operational Profit & Loss (P&L) for the assigned solar region/market, including budgeting, forecasting, and meeting financial objectives across revenue generation, cost control, and gross margin performance.
Define and drive operational strategies that align with the company's solar growth roadmap--focusing on market penetration, scalability, and long-term customer value.
Utilize solar industry KPIs (e.g., installation cycle time, cost per watt, system uptime) to identify performance trends, predict operational needs, and make data-driven decisions that enhance efficiency and profitability.
Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of solar projects: Site Assessment, System Design, Engineering, Permitting, Procurement, Installation, Inspection, Interconnection, and final PTO (Permission to Operate).
Standardize and optimize processes and workflows to improve operational throughput and reduce soft costs, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Ensure compliance with all applicable AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements, NEC codes, utility interconnection standards, and OSHA regulations.
Build and maintain partnerships with solar equipment vendors, EPC contractors, and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery, competitive pricing, and high system quality.
Team Leadership & Workforce Development:
Lead and manage a multidisciplinary operations team spanning solar design, permitting, field operations, warehouse/logistics, and post-installation services.
Cultivate a culture centered on safety, performance accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence in solar deployment.
Set clear KPIs and goals for team members, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide coaching and professional development aligned with evolving solar technologies and standards.
Customer Experience & Service Quality:
Work closely with Sales, Project Management, and Customer Experience teams to deliver a seamless customer journey from contract signing through to system activation.
Establish processes to proactively address customer issues, minimize installation delays, and enhance post-installation support--resulting in higher customer satisfaction, referrals, and brand loyalty.
Leverage customer feedback to implement service enhancements and drive operational improvements that align with industry best practices and expectations.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Director of Operations, General Manager).
Proven experience in the residential solar industry or a closely related field (e.g., residential construction, roofing, HVAC).
Demonstrated P&L management experience with a strong understanding of financial metrics and cost control.
Deep knowledge of solar installation processes, NEC codes, permitting requirements, and interconnection procedures.
Proven track record of successfully scaling operations in a high-growth environment.
