Job Summary

This position has primary accountability for the assessment of the strategic, commercial and resource potential of identified opportunities in Malaysia. This includes the development of appropriate business plans and strategies for the next 3-5 years. The position is accountable for creating credible business cases and will be required to interface with Business Development, Subsurface, Drilling, Capital Projects, Commercial, Operations, Procurement, Partners, and National Oil Company leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Subsurface, economic, and commercial assessments of identified opportunities.
  • Establish decision criteria for assets for further evaluation and development. Recommend development alternatives. Build development concept models.
  • Decision and staff any needed pre-feed and technology development studies.
  • Play a major role in forming and executing the BU\xe2\x80\x99s growth strategies. Negotiate new agreements where applicable, particularly in connection with growth opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong overview of gas and oil infrastructure, market, and offtake solutions in Malaysia.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering, Engineering, Geology, Geophysics or similar.
  • 15+ years of oil and gas industry experience across the exploration and development life cycle.
  • Broad technical leadership of resource characterizations, offshore field developments.
  • Experience with a wide variety of commercial challenges and negotiations.

Critical Skills & Experiences:

  • Understanding of the entire gas and oil value chain is required, from development operations (including subsurface, drilling, production, development/facilities, field and plant operations, pipeline operations) to marketing (commercial activities, transportation, and marketing agreements).
  • Strong influencing skills \xe2\x80\x93 proven skill. This position must be able to work effectively with people possessing widely varying cultural backgrounds, functional knowledge, skill level and organizational levels.
  • Key leader with strong influencing, communication, and integration skills with the capacity to work across multiple functions to deliver integrated project characterizations.
  • Passion and proven record for developing and maintaining a team environment with a common purpose and vision in which all members feel included and able to fully contribute their skills.
  • Proven ability to develop a forward plan with multiple complexities and sometimes competing interests between parties.
  • Proven commitment to deliver results
  • Unquestionable work ethics.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment to economic decisions.
  • A strong subsurface technical background, with specific experience in executing programs, identifying new development opportunities and opportunity high grading.
  • Significant energy industry experience, including relevant experience with commercial negotiation and investment analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of oil and gas E&P contracts (PSC, JOA, Unitization, TPA, Farm-in, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills and the ability to draw and support conclusions.
  • Commercial creativity \xe2\x80\x93 ability to quickly identify commercial exposure and opportunities, and to form palatable win-win solutions.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with risk-based decision making.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
Experience with contract development, negotiation, and tendering.
