ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Asia and Pacific Case Law Editorial Operations Manager plays a critical role in enabling content innovations and driving operational effectiveness. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for creating, maintaining, and delivering cases and exceptional case law enhancements (headnotes, summaries, signal treatment) for the APAC business. You will work closely with the Global Head of Case Law Editorial Ops to galvanize the APAC Case Law Ed Ops team under a common growth and operating north star, and ultimately drive improvements in operational efficiency, revenue, margin, and customer satisfaction. You will also play an integral role in driving employee engagement and enabling high team performance.

You will lead a team to execute on core deliverables and go-to-market initiatives while continually optimizing our processes and prioritizing our people. This includes:

  • Delivering new and existing products that fill market gaps and enhance our competitive position
  • Enabling the evolution of content solutions to best serve our customers
  • Leveraging generative AI and automation to speed up content creation and content management activities
  • Defining expectations for operational success and raising the performance bar as we evolve
  • Developing an integrated global team which can deliver operational value
  • Driving a culture of learning and growth
You will collaborate closely with our APAC leaders, commercial (in-market) stakeholders, finance team, people team, marketing team, product team, technology team, vendors, and Global Editorial Operations peers and partners. You will drive impact using technology to improve workflows and deliver insights with analytics-driven data.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees the day-to-day workflows for digital and print Case Law content delivery; maintains editorial product quality, accuracy, timeliness, and cost management across Australia, New Zealand, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.
  • Collaborates with commercial stakeholders to create new global Case Law enhancement content opportunities to drive the customer experience forward; liaises regularly with in-market teams to ensure content meets customer needs.
  • Develops meaningful metrics and analytics within APAC in alignment with Global Editorial Operations targets.
  • Executes on automation and drives adoption of global tools and systems delivery; eager to apply cutting-edge content management systems/architecture to streamline processes.
  • Actively manages the budget to ensure meeting of targets. Identifies and drives opportunities for savings; engages in vendor management and contract negotiation to ensure value; works closely with the Global Procurement group to specify effective processes and standards.
  • Establishes and monitors objectives by providing regular feedback, coaching, training, and development; responsible for determining performance opportunity areas and for developing and executing course-correction plans.
  • Executes on cross-functional coordination and support of global initiatives.
  • Drives a culture that encourages learning, AI-first thinking, and thoughtful and timely decision-making.
Role is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the incumbent is expected to travel occasionally across APAC as needed. The APAC Case Law Editorial Operations Manager reports to the Global Head of Case Law Editorial Operations.

EXPERIENCE

Skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience; ability to synthesize relevant information for Global Editorial Operations and commercial leaders.
  • Collaborative management style with ability to lead cross-functional, team-based, deadline-intensive strategic initiatives and delivery.
  • Business/commercial acumen; quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organization/project planning, time management, change management across multiple functional groups and departments, and delegation and prioritization skills.
  • Problem-solving experience, including identifying, researching, and coordinating resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex issues.
Qualifications
  • Experience leading an Operations function/team, preferably in editorial/publishing/content management.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, including people development, performance management, team communications, etc.
  • Strong process-orientation (developing consistent processes, documenting best practices, etc.).
  • Experience supporting a team through organizational transformation/change.
  • Experience cross-collaborating across global regions and functions, preferably with experience with commercial/in-market/product teams; author management experience is a big plus.
  • BA/BS + JD, MBA, other advanced degree or equivalent experience.
