Objectives of the Position

The objective of the position is to lead the Asia Pacific Communications Services team in Global Business Services, providing integrated corporate communications services across multiple platforms, locations, disciplines, and channels.

Main Tasks

Team Leadership

Lead the Communications Team in the Kuala Lumpur Hub to deliver communications services for the Asia Pacific region.

Manage the delivery of communications services to support projects and initiatives for the region and the legal entities.

Build the capabilities, service portfolio and expertise of the team through ongoing talent development.

Actively develop and manage the team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of communications services to the business.

Seek cost effective, innovative and agile solutions to communications challenges.

Demonstrate leadership behaviors that inspire an environment of openness, collaboration and support and a service-oriented mindset.

Member of the GB KL Hub Leadership Team.

Take charge of charging and budget topics for the team, while working with colleagues in controlling

Regional Communications (External, Internal and Brand/Digital)

  • Act as the key regional contact point for Communications topics in Asia Pacific.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of regional communication initiatives for BASF\'s management representatives in Asia Pacific, including the Board Member responsible for Asia Pacific
  • Ensure readiness of the team to support issues and crisis communications including crisis communications manual and trainings.
  • Act as a member of the Regional Incident Management Team responsible for crisis communications.
  • Oversee media relations, issues management, media training and One Voice Policy in Asia Pacific and liaison/alignment with internal stakeholders such as ODs, COM.
  • Oversee the development and publication of the Asia Pacific country level reports to ensure the production of best practice, efficient and effective corporate reports.
  • Oversee the development and use of effective regional tools and channels for internal and external communications (newsletters, intranet, website, social media, etc.).
  • Oversee internal communications project support in the region for a wide range of topics such as Sales and Customer Service Awards, Global Safety Days, D&I Communications, Future of Work, and others as required.
  • Support the Global Social Engagement Community.
  • Ensure the implementation and alignment to all Global COM guidelines and Corporate Requirements through information and training to the Asia COM Community.
Communications Advisory
  • Lead the Communications Advisory team to ensure the provision of high-quality services to the legal entities.
  • Ensure the cascade of governance from COM to the communications advisory in the Hub and legal entities.
  • Ensure the team is set up to deliver services with the appropriate skills, language, and experiences.
Digital, Brand and Event Services
  • Lead the Digital, Brand and Events teams to ensure the provision of high-quality services to the business in Asia Pacific.
  • Oversee the provision of digital communications including website, intranet, social media channels, digital content (including videos), and project development
Asia Pacific Communications Community
  • Take lead in keeping the APAC communications community connected and engaged via regular calls, updates, and exchanges on key topics.
  • Keep platforms such as Business Knowledge Series, Lunch and Learn current and engaging.
  • Lead and mentor the competence academy and AI workstream - a learning platform for and by the community
  • Lead the Asia Pacific Communications Talent Forum, while working with the VP, People Services GBA, Asia Pacific.
  • Lead the Global Business communications community in the region to collaborate and exchange on service delivery improvements, project efficiencies, exchange of best practices.
Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

Education:
  • Bachelor (Master\'s) degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, English or related disciplines
Working Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in public relations or corporate communications
  • Leadership experience in communication unit of international and multicultural companies; experience in top PR agencies is of advantage
  • Experience in handling crisis/issues
  • Experience in business development, business strategy or planning preferred
Technical & Professional Knowledge:
  • Ability to lead and influence the organization through advocacy and communication
  • Demonstrated expertise in business-relevant sustainability issues (critical issue management, communications, reporting, scholarship, advocacy, technologies, finance, etc.).
  • Demonstrated capability to achieve strategic objectives in a matrix
  • Excellent creative writing skills and conceptual abilities (planning, analytical and goal oriented) as well as good presentation and public speaking skills
  • Strength in project management (ability to set guidelines and deadlines, manage budget and take accountability)
  • Excellent business sense, strong analytical skills and thinking
