International Subsidiary Banking (ISB) is CMB\xe2\x80\x99s international proposition which aims to provide banking coverage to the subsidiaries of Commercial Banking (CMB) customers within the Large Corporate and Mid- Market Enterprise segments. The ISB strategy is to provide consistent, in-depth, and dedicated coverage across the HSBC network with the end goal to deepen our relationship with our customers. The ISB business is a significant contributor of revenue to CMB and consists of a network of dedicated bankers across more than 40 countries.

We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Head of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Desk - International Subsidiary Banking

Responsibilities

  • Grow sustainable revenues through business development activities, identifying opportunities to grow the ISB customer base in Malaysia.
  • Proactively work with Government agencies, Chambers of Commerce and other external sources, to identify both new and historic FDI flows into Malaysia.
  • Leverage internal and external sources of information to identify missed opportunities within our existing customer base and proactively work to deepen our existing customer wallet share and relationships.
  • Oversee proactive new relationship acquisition across the ISB business in Malaysia.
  • Support the ISB team with building customer contact plans and pipeline management for both existing and new customers.
  • Monitor the market landscape regularly and generate quality opportunities to both expand and deepen the ISB customer base.
  • Proactively grow international/cross border revenue within the region and group.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of customer information and deal pipeline on relevant systems as required.
  • Establish an effective working relationship with Risk in order to validate the accuracy of the customer risk profile, and ensure sustainable asset growth.
  • Support the Country Head of ISB with marketing activities, including preparation of pitch materials and strategic insights into the market.
  • Maintain a proactive calling programme to service clients, ensuring senior management and key stakeholders for large corporate clients are contacted regularly.
  • Ensure a quality service for all customers by owning customer engagement, ensuring service excellence at all times, for all aspects of any customer,
  • Support achievement of the HSBC vision, Values, goals and culture in personal behaviour, actions and decision making.
  • Provide technical leadership and support technical excellence by searching out external best practice, monitoring technical and professional developments, sharing knowledge and encouraging others to do the same in the best interests of HSBC and its customers.
  • Encourage and enable constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action and challenging actions and behaviours that are not consistent with HSBC\'s diversity policy and/or the best interests of the business and its customers.
  • Develop and recommend changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and practices based on subject matter expertise and understanding of HSBC and market best practice.
  • Communicate and adhere to HSBC policy and procedures in order to ensure good operational, financial and project management, policy and procedural compliance and early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience of minimum 10 years in Commercial Banking.
  • Proven experience in managing clients in the ISB segment, with a demonstrated track record of new business acquisition.
  • Existing network of external stakeholders in the Malaysia business market place
  • In-depth analytical skills with a strong commercial orientation and focus on credit quality.
  • Ability to travel to key recipient areas of FDI, including but not restricted to: Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan and Sarawak.
  • The ability to build strong and lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • To consistently meet and exceed customer expectations through superior customer service.
  • To demonstrate and adhere to the behaviours which embrace and satisfy the bank\xe2\x80\x99s Global Standards and Control agenda.
  • To demonstrate teamwork at all times and contribute effectively to the broader CMB team-based activities
  • To scope diligently the existing inbound portfolio and any new inbound opportunities that may be allocated for on boarding, together with the close involvement of relevant product partners and Global Relationship Managers
  • The ability to understand and interpret complex financial data and statements comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these
  • Detailed understanding of the ISB strategic model and relevant policy and guidelines in place
