Job Description


Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities

  • Support the implementation and reporting of required compliance training for all employees.
  • Subject matter expert in providing advise and guidance to management and employees on matters relating to regulatory risk.
  • Conduct regular awareness campaigns reminding employees of the compliance policies and how they can report a violation or a concern.
  • Establish, enhance and implement relevant compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide pragmatic and best practice compliance solutions and advise.
  • Analyse external requirement and trends.
  • Support and conduct monitoring activities for area(s) of expertise.
  • Support and develop communication and training for area(s) of expertise.
  • Identify and support the development of adequate mitigation measures of compliance risks.
  • Support the design, build and implementation of the business unit compliance plans.
  • Support project work relating to area of expertise within the Compliance function and /or in cross functional projects.
  • Support the business with their implementation of corrective action plans for resolution of problematic compliance matters and provide general guidance on how to avoid to deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Report on the results of assigned compliance activities to senior Compliance staff.
  • Provide support to draft reports to Executive management, oversight committees and regulators.
  • Provide support to establish, enhance and implement relevant compliance policies and procedures.
Compliance Solutions
  • Analyse \'Group Significant\' laws or trends impacting the Compliance Risk Universe and assess impact on Zurich\'s operations in the jurisdiction. Ensure alignment with Legal to prevent activity overlaps.
  • Develop, implement, support and maintain compliance frameworks for the compliance domains.
  • Advise and support first line of defense with the adoption or, as appropriate, development, implementation and maintenance of Compliance Policies.
  • Advise and support second line of defense, in particular local and regional Compliance teams, with the adoption or, as appropriate, development, implementation and maintenance of Compliance Policies.
Compliance Assurance
  • Conduct the annual compliance planning to identify local priorities on risk-basis over up to 3 years, including sufficient monitoring and training activities. Ensure relevant stakeholders support prioritization.
  • Report progress against plan and ensure approval in case of significant plan changes by Governance Committee.
  • Identify, prioritize and document monitoring required by regulation and other possible areas as a result of continuous observation of the environment or from the compliance risk assessment and execute monitoring program.
  • For compliance oversight establish and maintain locally a log on each of the items subject to reporting.
Business Accountabilities

Promoting Ethic Based Culture

In order to promote an ethics based culture advancing compliance:
  • Develop and execute a training and awareness strategy, implement Compliance training and provide management with relevant metrics.
  • Maintain the Group Policy relating to reporting of violations and concerns and provide management with relevant metrics.
Compliance Solutions
  • Assess new laws and trends and their applicability and implementation to Zurich\'s operations in the jurisdiction in order to ensure that the Compliance Risk Universe are fully identified and managed.
  • Advise the first line of defense with respect to policies (i.e. their adoption, development, implementation and maintenance), practical guidance, training, relevant controls, and processes for mitigation of risks within the Compliance Risk Universe.
  • Advise and support business management in its regulatory relationship management regarding topics from the compliance risk universe thereby upholding the organization\'s public image.
  • Advise and support second line of defense, in particular local and regional Compliance teams, with the adoption or, as appropriate, development, implementation and maintenance of Compliance Policies.
Compliance Assurance
  • Conduct the annual compliance risk assessment to satisfy minimum internal and external regulatory requirements and validate assessment results with local management and governance committees.
  • Share monitoring results and agree on actions with senior management and other relevant stakeholders and follow up with business on agreed improvement actions.
  • Ensure compliance oversight and provide assurance to management and appropriate governance bodies that risks within the Compliance Risk Universe are appropriately identified and managed.
Stakeholder Management
  • Identify and interact with internal stakeholders to further the comprehension of the functional mandates and ensure functional involvement in matters of relevance.
  • Ensure that relevant stakeholders are informed, understand and support Compliance activities and prioritization.
  • Establish, maintain and work external networks with financial and insurance industry associations and with regulatory authorities to gather intelligence, advise the business of relevant developments and support the business in defining actions as seen fit.
Project Management
  • Organize and deliver functional projects within the defined scope and time frame and in accordance with agreed cost and quality targets.
  • Accountable for the completion of functional projects and the project deliverable\'s to required level of quality.
  • Participate in project steering committees for projects with no dedicated legal sub project, ensuring that legal requirements and considerations are taken into account.
Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in Law and 8 or more years of experience in the Regulatory Compliance area
OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Regulatory Compliance area
Preferred:
  • Advanced Degree or Juris Doctor
  • In-depth advisory and consultative skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Effective conflict resolution, presentation and project management skills
