Job Description


1. KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Responsible for providing Reservoir Engineering expertise for Subsurface Assets in Malaysia and supporting technical, field development and commercial workplan(s) as required.
  • Specific Reservoir Engineering role in delivering sound commercial development solutions for brownfields in Sabah Deepwater.
  • As required, technical oversight and QC review of all geological model build, petrophysical analysis, and reservoir simulations.
  • Provide Reservoir Engineering input to unitization, equity discussions, exploration support and other evaluations as required.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to younger Subsurface staff.
  • Establish strong working relationship(s) internally with subsurface, production, drilling and development personnel and externally with Partners and PETRONAS to ensure the company\'s interests, and operational objectives are achieved.
2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Technical Accountability: Conduct and lead reservoir evaluation studies, and prepare and analyze the required input simulation data (Production and injection data, rock/fluid properties, PVT, relative permeability, etc.). Perform and/or supervise model construction to include network modeling, history matching, calibration, prediction runs, and analysis and develop value-added solutions and to address reservoir management challenges and requirements. Propose and study various alternatives to develop new fields and/or optimize producing/injection schemes in existing areas. Evaluate/assess and apply new modeling techniques, tools or technologies. Participate in project technical reviews and prepare reports and presentations for milestone reviews and equity or unitization proceedings. Pressure transient and production logging analysis. Well and production system modeling and performance. Material balance modeling. Reserves analysis and input to year-end reserves and ARPR. Decline curve analysis. Production forecasting and input to FDP, WB&P and LRP. PVT and SCAL. Dynamic reservoir modeling. Oil and gas reservoir performance evaluation.

Departmental Accountability: Liaise with other technical and commercial disciplines (drilling, geology, reservoir engineering, production, petroleum and commercial) to ensure accurate data integration into all reservoir asset evaluations. Provide technical support for the compilation of regular progress reports, project status, reserves and development option reviews as required. Leading a team of reservoir engineers and providing technical guidance in reservoir characterization, simulation and modeling. Technical review for all input data and assumptions in the recoverable estimate for FFR/FDP projects, reserves change/update, post-job performance review develop & implement reservoir management strategies, and liaise with the Production Engineering team on reservoir surveillance plan. Collaborate with geoscientists to integrate geological & geophysical data into reservoir models & analysis. Align TP & short- term outlook with the production engineering team

3. PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of a Master degree in Reservoir Engineering with extensive Reservoir Development experience.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience including a minimum of 8 years Deepwater experience of turbidite reservoir systems and Deepwater field development solutions is required.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Proven technical leadership, negotiating, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computing skills in a variety of reservoir engineering and geological software applications (e.g. Petrel, TNAV, Eclipse, Saphir) with a demonstrated ability in applying information technology.
  • Fluent in English-written and spoken.
