The role is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of employee relations to foster a positive workplace culture, enhance the overall employee experience, and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. Acting as a trusted advisor to both managers and employees, this position will handle conflict resolution, policy interpretation, investigations, and engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong expertise in labor law, employee relations, and HR best practices.
Key Accountabilities
Employee Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and workplace conflicts.
Conduct fair and impartial investigations into cases involving harassment, discrimination, misconduct, or policy violations.
Provide expert guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, practices, and procedures.
Recommend appropriate corrective or developmental actions, including disciplinary measures or training.
Policy Development & Compliance
Support the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
Ensure organizational compliance with Malaysian labor law, as well as relevant federal, state, and local employment regulations.
Monitor workplace trends and recommend proactive measures to reduce employee relations issues.
Employee Engagement
Partner with leadership to design and implement initiatives that drive engagement, retention, and a positive work culture.
Support change management programs and culture-building efforts.
Data & Reporting
Track, analyze, and report employee relations cases, trends, and metrics to leadership.
Provide data-driven recommendations to enhance the employee experience and minimize risks.
People Management & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve high performance and capability growth.
Provide regular feedback, set clear goals, and support succession planning initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, with a strong focus on employee relations or HR business partnering within a manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian labor law and HR compliance requirements.
Strong interpersonal, coaching, and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Proven ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment.
