Professional, Full Time (Contract)

This position is responsible for the overall internal audit program for the university. This position reports to the Chairman, Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and administers the Audit Policy.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Prepare and develop an annual audit plan using an appropriate risk-based methodology, any risks or control concerns including those identified by management, and submit that plan to the Audit Committee for review and approval.
• Execute the approved annual audit plan within appropriate timing and budget.
• Responsible for reviewing the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management and internal control within the university.
• Review specific matters and projects upon request of the Audit Committee or management, provided such reviews do not compromise its\xe2\x80\x99 objectivity or independence, or achievement of the approved audit plan.
• Assess the adequacy of resources needed to execute the audit plan and submit proposal to the Audit Committee for consideration.
• Prepare and issue audit reports to the Audit Committee and management, summarising the results of the audit activities and provide recommendations for control improvement where necessary.
• Assist in the investigation of significant suspected fraudulent activities within the organisation and report to the Audit Committee of the results on a timely basis.
• Quarterly, or as and when required, provide information on the status and results of the approved annual audit plan, including any special tasks or projects requested by management and the Audit Committee and the sufficiency of department resources to execute its\xe2\x80\x99 responsibilities.

Selection Criteria:

• Minimum, a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in accounting or related field and professional certification; CPA, CIA from a recognized institution.
• At least ten (10) years of working experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, with five (5) years of management experience.
• In \xe2\x80\x93depth knowledge of international internal auditing standards and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of auditing assignments.
• Strong analytical and leadership qualities with high degree of technical competence.
• Well-developed planning and organizational skills at both operational and project levels, and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• A high level of interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate (oral and written) and negotiate effectively with both academic and administrative staff and the wider community.
• Demonstrated experience in managing teams of people and supporting the successful development of teams in performance and appraisal.
• Possess good general IT literacy including use of emails, internet and Microsoft Office.
