Job Description


Job Summary: The storekeeper is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials, equipment, and other items from the warehouse or storage facility. They maintain accurate inventory records and ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with established warehouse procedures.Responsibilities: * Inventory Management:

  • Receive incoming materials and verify against purchase orders or invoices.
  • Organize and store materials in designated areas.
  • Maintain inventory controls by conducting regular counts and reconciling with inventory systems.
  • Issue materials as per requisitions and maintain accurate records of issuances.
  • Warehouse Organization:
  • Ensure the warehouse is organized and clean for efficient operations.
  • Rotate stock and arrange items for optimal storage and space utilization.
  • Perform regular inspections to identify and address any potential maintenance issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, supplies, and equipment.
  • Generate and update inventory balances and usage reports regularly.
  • Provide necessary documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Comply with company policies and legal regulations regarding storage and handling of materials.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Coordinate with purchasing, production, and other departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders regarding inventory levels and issues.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or warehouse management is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a storekeeper or similar position, preferably in a warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management software and systems.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions: Storekeepers typically work in warehouse or storage facilities where they may be exposed to varying temperatures and conditions. The role often requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday.
