to join our site management team. The IOW will be responsible for overseeing and managing the electrical subcontractors' work packages, ensuring the quality, timeline, and execution of all Electrical (M&E) systems meet the project specifications, consultant requirements, and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Subcontractor Management:
Supervise and monitor the daily activities and progress of electrical subcontractors on site, ensuring adherence to the approved construction program.
Quality Assurance (QA/QC):
Inspect all stages of electrical installation, including trunking, conduit installation, cabling, switchboard placement, and final fittings, to ensure workmanship meets the highest standards and contractual specifications.
Drawings & Specifications:
Verify that work is carried out strictly according to the latest approved construction drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications issued by the Consultant.
Material Control:
Conduct rigorous inspection of all incoming electrical materials and equipment (e.g., cables, circuit breakers, light fittings) to confirm they match the approved samples and technical submittals.
Inspection Coordination:
Prepare and coordinate site inspection requests (RFI/WORs) with the Consultant's Resident Engineer (RE) and IOWs, ensuring all pre-inspection checklists are completed.
Progress Monitoring:
Track and report on physical work progress against the planned schedule, identifying potential bottlenecks or delays in the electrical works.
Site Safety:
Enforce the Main Contractor's safety management system (SMS) within the electrical work areas, particularly focusing on safe installation procedures and working-at-height permits.
Testing & Handover:
Ensure all required in-house quality checks, testing, and commissioning procedures (e.g., insulation resistance, continuity, final energization) are completed satisfactorily prior to consultant witnessing and project handover.
Job Requirements
Certification:
Must possess a valid qualification and relevant experience to be a
Registered Inspector of Works (IOW)
with the
Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
, or possess an equivalent professional certification/competency.
Education:
Minimum of a Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
At least
1 years of site experience
in supervising M&E works for major building or infrastructure projects, preferably with a Main Contractor or turnkey developer.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of Malaysian electrical regulations, including the
ST Electricity Regulations 1994
and relevant MS/BS standards.
Competency:
Possessing a valid
Wireman/Chargeman certificate (L1/L4/H0/H1)
issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) is highly advantageous.
Attributes:
Proven ability to manage subcontractors, excellent documentation skills (Daily Reports, QC Forms), and effective communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
