Job Description

The IT Engineer is responsible for managing and supporting the company's IT infrastructure, systems, and services across its Malaysia operations. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of all IT systems supporting manufacturing, R&D, and corporate functions. The position requires strong technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to support a high-tech, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure & Systems Management

Oversee design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of servers, network, storage, and cloud environments. Manage Active Directory, user accounts, access control, and security permissions. Administer and maintain enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, collaboration platforms, email, document management). Monitor and ensure high availability of IT systems and business-critical applications.

2. IT Operations & Support

Lead and resolve high-priority incidents; perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions. Provide Level 3 escalation support for hardware, software, and network issues. Coordinate system upgrades, patch management, and preventive maintenance. Document and maintain IT procedures, configurations, and inventories.

3. Security & Compliance

Implement cybersecurity policies, firewalls, endpoint protection, and data backup/recovery plans. Conduct periodic risk assessments and ensure IT systems meet audit and compliance standards. Manage user training and awareness for information security practices.

4. Project Implementation & Continuous Improvement

Lead infrastructure and digital transformation projects (e.g., cloud migration, virtualization, automation). Evaluate and recommend new IT tools or systems that improve business efficiency. Collaborate with regional/global IT teams to align on standards and best practices.

5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

Liaise with technology vendors and service providers for procurement, licensing, and support agreements. Manage IT budgets, quotations, and service-level agreements (SLAs). Support local users and collaborate closely with global IT for system rollouts and troubleshooting.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline. Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), VMware, AWS/Azure, or ITIL.

Experience:

Minimum

7-10 years

of progressive IT infrastructure and system administration experience. Strong background in Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, Active Directory, Office 365, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). Proven experience in network administration (LAN/WAN/firewalls/VPN) and cybersecurity management. Exposure to manufacturing or high-tech R&D environments is highly advantageous. Experience leading IT projects or mentoring junior staff is a plus.

Skills:

Excellent troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. High degree of ownership, reliability, and confidentiality. Familiarity with ISO 27001 or other IT governance frameworks preferred.
