Process Engineers are responsible for developing new industrial processes and designing new process plants and equipment or modifying existing ones. The processes that they come up with are used to create products ranging from oil and gas to food and drink. The role can include:
Analysing new processes
Collecting data required to make improvements and modifications
Utilize and developing process simulation software to work out the best production methods
Perform design, sizing and calculation
Establish Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID)
Using scientific principles related to fluid mechanics, process separation, heat transfer etc.
Investigating and troubleshooting plant/process problems
Scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines and within financial budgets
Ensuring that equipment works to its specification and to appropriate capacities
Assessing safety and environmental issues
Perform risk assessment i.e.: HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, HAC Study and etc.
Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning and start-up.
Ensure that design meets all Process Safety requirements and maintains risks to as low as reasonably practicable.
Ensuring safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.
Familiar and experience with HYSIS simulation, Equipment & Line Sizing Calculation, familiar with PTS code and other international standard and code.
