We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Chef to oversee the preparation of nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for students. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with food safety standards, collaborate with school nutritionists, and create diverse menu options that cater to various dietary needs while promoting healthy eating habits. The candidate must also possess a valid Typhoid vaccination certificate.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare daily school meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and nutritional standards.
Develop and implement weekly and monthly menus that include a variety of healthy and delicious options.
Ensure all meals are prepared on time, maintaining quality and presentation.
Manage food inventories, order supplies, and monitor storage to minimise waste and control costs.
Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and procedures. Collaborate with school nutritionists and staff to accommodate special dietary requirements, such as allergies or religious restrictions.
Train and supervise kitchen staff and student helpers. Maintain accurate records of food production, inventory, and compliance documentation.
Stay updated on current trends in healthy school meals and incorporate innovative menu ideas.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a chef, cook, or culinary professional, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
Knowledge of nutritional standards and dietary guidelines.
Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent).
Valid Typhoid vaccination certificate.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Passion for promoting healthy eating habits among youth.
Working Conditions:
