The Kitchen Crew Member plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen by assisting in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting chefs and cooks during service. This position requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing ingredients (e.g., chopping vegetables, marinating meats, portioning sauces)
Cook or assemble simple dishes under supervision
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils
Wash dishes, pots, and pans using proper sanitation procedures
Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO)
Dispose of waste and recyclables according to kitchen protocols
Follow food safety guidelines and hygiene standards at all times
Support chefs and cooks during busy service periods
Ensure all kitchen stations are stocked and organized
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Supervisor
Requirements
Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required (training provided)
Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
