The Kitchen Helper supports daily kitchen operations in the hospital cafeteria by assisting in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and food safety standards. This role is essential to smooth kitchen workflow in a high-volume healthcare catering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Support & Food Preparation
Assist in basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
Support cooks and line cooks during meal preparation and service.
Help transport food, utensils, and supplies within the kitchen and service areas.
Assist in setting up and clearing preparation areas as instructed.
Cleaning & Sanitation
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and floors.
Wash dishes, pots, pans, trays, and cooking tools according to hygiene standards.
Ensure proper waste disposal and maintain a clean working environment.
Keep storage areas tidy and organized.
Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance
Follow all HACCP, KKM/MOH, and hospital hygiene standards.
Practice proper hand hygiene and personal cleanliness at all times.
Handle food safely to prevent contamination.
Wear proper protective gear (hairnet, gloves, apron, safety shoes where required).
Stock & Storage Assistance
Assist in receiving and organizing food supplies.
Help store raw materials properly following FIFO principles.
Inform supervisors of damaged items, spoilage, or shortages.
Teamwork & General Duties
Work cooperatively with kitchen staff and service team.
Assist other stations when required during peak hours.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Chef or Assistant Head Chef.
Requirements
No formal qualifications required; training will be provided.
Prior experience in a kitchen or cafeteria is an advantage but not mandatory.
Basic understanding of cleanliness and hygiene practices preferred.
Physically fit and able to stand for long hours in a hot environment.
Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays if required.
