As a Kitchen Steward at Eastern & Oriental Express, A Belmond Train you are part of a team that brings culinary visions to life through immersive, unique, and hand-crafted gastronomic experiences. In this role, you will work alongside skilled colleagues to prepare the highest quality food from recipes. Primary responsibilities include: Wash, rinse, and sanitise dishes, utensils, pots, and pans used by kitchen staff. Operate dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely. Ensure the kitchen, including countertops, sinks, floors, and walls, is kept clean and sanitised. Regularly clean and disinfect kitchen equipment, surfaces, and storage areas. Arrange and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment properly to maintain an organised and efficient workspace. Assist the kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and cleaning vegetables, as needed. Collect and dispose of kitchen trash and recycling in a hygienic manner. Ensure that trash bins are regularly emptied and cleaned Eastern & Oriental Express is relaunching on February 19, 2024. Requirements 1 - 2 years relevant experience within a similar role. Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward or dishwasher is advantageous. High school diploma or equivalent. Hospitality experience advantageous, preferably in a luxury environment Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation techniques. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organisation. Willingness to work as part of a team and follow instructions from kitchen supervisors. Ability to follow instructions & work independently when required We seek warm, genuine, authentic people with a passion for travel and discovery. You are self-assured without being arrogant, and keen to interact with our discerning guests. You are a great storyteller with a positive mindset and a can-do attitude. International exposure will be considered a plus. You must speak English. Additional languages, such as Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, French and German, are a benefit. We welcome a diversity of backgrounds, ethnicities and religions. Experience in the hospitality industry is a bonus, but not a necessity. You could be from an independent restaurant or bar, have worked in luxury retail or private villas, or be a tour guide.
