Job Description




(Roles and Responsibilities)


Main purpose of job: To support the British High Commission\xe2\x80\x99s productivity and morale by acting as the Deputy IT Support Officer to a network of just under 100 colleagues (60%) and by providing operational support to the wider Corporate Services Team, primarily in the Transport, Logistics and Security work streams (40%). Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?: IT and Telephony Support:

  • First line support for IT related problems before escalating to the Help Desk for further investigation.
  • Ensure IT requests and incidents are accurately logged in Service Now portal.
  • Assist to maintain office IT system including Laptops, PCs, desktops, printers, office phones, switches, routers and video conferencing system.
  • Manage user accounts, shared folder access permissions and email distribution lists.
  • Update IT inventory and manage IT loan log book.
  • Provide IT briefings to new staff members on office IT systems, security procedures and potential breaches.
  • To rebuild, repair and replace faulty equipment.
  • To assist & collaborate on IT projects, such as projects to refurbish all desktop PCs & laptops for staffs.
  • Responsible for the IT support mailbox, check emails daily and action accordingly.
  • Provide IT support to external events.
  • Act as local contact for the FCDO global telephony system (ECHO) and liaise with Vodafone service Desk for new user creation, hardware update and fault reporting
  • Perform 1st level phone diagnostics on user reported problems e.g. power on, handset plugged in etc., replace faulty telephone handsets using on-site spares.
  • Order replacement spares to replenish site-level spares; ensure that the spares inventory held at site is always at the level detailed in the site design document.
  • Liaise with local IT/Telephony vendors and matters related to hardware, software and maintenance services.
  • Identify general or recurring problems and report to the ITSO.
Other:
  • Manage incoming and outgoing diplomatic bag
  • Manage maintenance and vehicle checks of fleet to ensure safety on the road.
  • Make payments related to the fleet, including fuel, maintenance, annual insurance payments renewal, and other payments necessary for the function of the fleet cars
  • Provide other admin support to Logistics and Security Managers as required

Essential qualifications, skills and experience


  • IT Diploma / Degree, with at least 2 years working experience.
  • Knowledge of computer system, printer and network equipment.
  • Experience of providing technical support and troubleshooting of hardware, software and network problems to the End User Computing (EUC).
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and good teamwork

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience


  • High degree of professionalism, personal integrity, with a commitment to achieve team success.
  • Excellent working skills with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and ability to resolve various hardware issues
