Job Summary
Responsible for managing digital evidence in the laboratory. Responsibilities include case intake, documentation, and task assignment while ensuring strict adherence to chain-of-custody procedures and compliance with legal standards. The role also provides technical support to forensic analysts in evidence handling and laboratory maintenance.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
1) Technical Assistance
Forensic Support:
Assist forensic analysts in setting up equipment for evidence acquisition and analysis.
Support the handling, imaging, and preservation of digital evidence.
Laboratory Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and inventory checks of forensic tools and equipment.
Ensure the lab is equipped with updated software and hardware.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct initial checks on collected evidence to ensure it meets standard guidelines for analysis.
Collaborate with forensic experts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of analysis results.
2) Case Management
Case Intake and Assignment:
Receive, document, and log incoming cases, ensuring proper chain-of-custody protocols.
Assign cases to appropriate forensic analysts or teams based on workload and expertise.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of case progress, updates, and resolution.
Prepare detailed reports for internal use, stakeholders, and law enforcement agencies.
Data Security and Compliance:
Ensure all case-related data is stored securely and handled according to legal and organizational policies.
Assist in audits and reviews to ensure compliance with local, national, and international forensic standards.
3) Procedures Development:
Adhere to digital forensics standard operating procedures and guidelines to ensure effective planning, organizing, and monitoring of digital forensics activities and operations.
4) Laboratory Accreditations:
Participate in QMS activities to maintain lab accreditation with minimal nonconformities.
Review / develop / validate test methods and procedures to be used in day-to-day operations.
5) Cybercrime Collaboration:
Take part in strategic partnerships and collaboration with local and international law enforcement agencies, service providers, vendors, and other relevant parties on digital forensics assistance to address and mitigate cyber-dependent crimes, cyber-enabled crimes, and the misuse of telecommunications services for fraudulent activities.
Participate in talk engagement and working groups to share knowledge and experience with the participants.
6) Procedures Development:
Adhere to digital forensics standard operating procedures and guidelines to ensure effective planning, organizing, and monitoring of digital forensics activities and operations.
7) Coaching, Guidance, and Mentoring:
Take part in strategic partnerships and collaboration with local and international law enforcement agencies, service providers, vendors, and other relevant parties on digital forensics assistance to address and mitigate cyber-dependent crimes, cyber-enabled crimes, and the misuse of telecommunications services for fraudulent activities.
Participate in talk engagement and working groups to share knowledge and experience with the participants.
8) Staff Competency:
Participate in the training plan that evaluates staff competency and proficiency through periodic tests while maintaining high credibility.
9) Financial Management:
Effectively spend the departmental budgets and costs to ensure efficient fund management.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
Education & Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics or other related disciplines with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 from a reputable University/College.
Professional certification in any related field such as CCPA/CCME/GCIH/EnCE and so on is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 0 - 4 years of working experience as an IT technician or equivalent is an added advantage.
Prior experience in a digital forensic lab or a similar technical role is preferred.
Familiarity with case management systems and forensic tools like AXIOM, EnCase, or XRY.
Experience in handling complex computer equipment.
Experience in court testimony on digital forensics cases is an added advantage.
Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and must possess acceptable writing and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Technical & Functional Skills
Have current knowledge of computer hardware and the ability to assemble and disassemble components.
A solid understanding of laboratory quality assurance activities outlined in the Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia.
Strong understanding of digital evidence handling and chain-of-custody protocols.
Proficiency in forensic software, hardware troubleshooting, and general IT systems.
Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaboration.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and operate under strict ethical guidelines

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
