GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION

• To maintain and upkeep effective and efficient operation of R&D lab, scheduled waste store and wastewater treatment plant in accordance to established requirements.
• To carry out compounding and dipping work related to R&D / NPD / PPM project independently.
• To conduct raw materials, latex and glove testing.
• To validate new equipment at R&D lab.
• To collect and record data for various reporting related to R&D works including documents and data filing where appropriate.
• To assist in formulation calculation and perform statistical data analysis of various data analysis of various data for R&D requirements.
• Able to identify problems and perform troubleshooting in lab and plant scale.
• To assist in monitoring plant trial and recording plant dipping parameter whenever applicable. Also to follow up on plant trial work and perform appropriate supervision work during plant trial.
• To maintain proper stock control and the availability of lab materials and also ensure appropriate disposable of waste lab materials to the required procedures.
• To assist in filing of lab procedures and documents including updating where appropriate.
• To assist Senior R&D Manager and Chemist in all areas of work related to R&D lab.
• To provide guidance to Technician I, II, III in carried out their daily task as and when needed.
• To carry out any duties assigned by Senior R&D Manager and Chemist.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. R&D Projects (35%)

• To carry out compounding, dipping and processing work related to R&D project independently. Conduct chemical, latex and glove testing and collecting chemicals from store or compounding and etc.
• To contribute ideas and suggestions in R&D projects. To participate in R&D project status and progress review where appropriate.

2. Maintenance of R&D Lab, Scheduled Waste Store and Waste Water Treatment Plant (22%)

• To assist Senior R&D Manager and Chemist in maintaining and upkeep of R&D lab, scheduled waste store and wastewater treatment plant in accordance to established requirements.
• Responsible for equipment cleaning, verification and maintenance and the overall laboratory day-to-day cleanliness and housekeeping including disposal of laboratory waste and rubbish from lab.
• To assist Senior R&D Manager and Chemist in ensuring appropriate documents, records, materials, tools and equipment are available and clearly identified and properly maintained.

3. Equipment Validation (5%)

• To assist Senior R&D Manager and Chemist in validation of new equipment at R&D lab.
• To perform on going equipment verification/ calibration and maintain records.
• To maintain cleanliness and effective functioning of lab equipment and ensure proper labeling and identification.

4. Statistic Data Analysis and R&D Reporting (8%)

• To collect and record data for various reporting related to R&D works including documents and data filing where appropriate.
• To compile and summarize R&D experiment results for R&D project reporting where required.
• To assist Senior R&D Manager and Chemist in formulation calculation and perform statistical data analysis of various data for R&D requirements.
• To perform statistical analysis on R&D experiment work testing data.

5. Troubleshooting (10%)

• Able to identify problems and perform troubleshooting in lab work and plant work and report to superior to execute instruction accordingly.
• To identify materials/ equipment faults and problems and any non compliances and take appropriate actions.

6. Plant Trial and Process Validation (10%)

• To assist Senior R&D Manager and Chemist in monitoring plant trial / validation and recording plant dipping parameter whenever applicable.
• Also to follow up on plant trial work and perform appropriate supervision work during plant trial or validation.
• To report trial and validation observations, findings and issues encountered and take appropriate actions where required.
• To collect trial or validation samples for testing/ evaluation and/ or conduct testing and follow up with test reports.

7. Lab Materials (3%)

• To maintain proper stock control and the availability of lab materials and also ensure appropriate disposable of waste lab materials to the required procedures.
• To maintain good system of materials identification and traceability including shelf life/ expired date monitoring and correct labeling and identification.

8. Lab Documents (3%)

• To assist in filing of lab procedures and documents including updating where appropriate.
• To assist in implementing an effective documentation control system for ease of retrieving R&D documents, data and records.
• To draft/ prepare any new lab procedures where required.

9. Other Functions (4%)

• To assist Senior R&D Manager and Chemist in all areas of work related to R&D lab.
• To carry out any duties assigned by Senior R&D Manager and Chemist.
• To provide relevant work/ technical support as required from R&D lab.

KEY POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

• A good secondary education in Science background, preferably STPM/ Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Chemistry or equivalent.

Job Experience

• Minimum of 5 years working experience in laboratory environment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Some knowledge in latex technology, latex testing or other laboratory testing.
• Experience in laboratory practice and carry out laboratory experimental work.
• Able to use simple statistical tools (e.g. Microsoft Words, Excel and Power
• Able to work in a team and good communication skill.
