Job Description

JOB PURPOSE To provide technical support to the engineering lecturers in their laboratory/workshop sessions with students and to ensure that the laboratories/workshop are maintained in good working condition at all times. KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES . Prepare laboratories and workshop for the experiments engineering students have to undertake. . Order equipment for the laboratory, ensuring that the required number of quotations are obtained. . Keep an inventory of all equipment and materials used in the laboratories. . Assist in demonstrating the use of equipments to students. . Check on and update stock levels to ensure smooth running of laboratory sessions. . Clean and maintain laboratory/workshop equipment. . Maintain laboratories at an acceptable level of cleanliness and safety and to dispose of waste properly. . Responsible for workshop and lab manual kept in the laboratories . . Assist in counselling and enrollment of students whenever required. . Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time JOB SPECIFICATION MINIMUM ACADEMIC / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION . Diploma in Mechanical Engineering RELATED EXPERIENCE . At least 2 years of working experience, preferably in an educational institution and with laboratory background COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS) . Ability to handle laboratory equipment in a safe manner . Ability to work independently with minimal supervision . Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area . Ability to operate and understand the operations of laboratory equipment as well as make minor repairs and maintenance to the equipment. . Ability to handle minor first aid . Has initiative in handling assigned duties . Knowledge of and skills in using computer software e.g. Microsoft software applications .
