Conservation Medicine are seeking a
LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
with an interest in emerging infectious diseases and conservation to join our team in Sabah, Malaysia. The position is a 1 year renewable contract based mainly at Sabah Wildlife Department\xe2\x80\x99s Wildlife Health, Genetic and Forensic Laboratory in Kota Kinabalu.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the receipt, storage, and testing of samples using standard molecular and serological techniques to screen for viral pathogens for our zoonotic disease research programs. They will help maintain result and sample databases, join sampling trips, ensure sample quality and workplace safety, assist in result analysis and writing reports, grants, and papers. The candidate will support training and capacity building activities in Malaysia, with the potential to be involved in projects throughout South East Asia.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in life sciences or similar plus 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 Biological or Molecular lab experience is essential. Fluency in English is required. Having experience with wildlife and human disease surveillance, biosafety practices and ISO 17025 accreditation is a plus. This position is only open to Malaysian citizens who are Sabah residents or ready to relocate.
MONTHLY SALARY:
RM2,200.00 \xe2\x80\x93 3,500.00 depending on experience.
